MH 777 missing - MH370 media statement

I assume the comment is tongue-in-cheek, and that the "party members repaying donations" refers to this: pay-back-secret-rudd-donation-bill-shorten (but why Tony Abbott would want to divert attention from that, escapes me  ).

But if not  - possibly the reason for the announcement was because some-one might ask questions when they inevitably noticed that a bunch of Australian planes are making continuous sorties to the southern Indian Ocean at considerable cost and risk to those in the air. After which would come the equally inevitable cry of "Cover-up" "What are you hiding?" etc.

If no-one made any statement until "real parts were found" - wouldn't it be odd that an airliner disappears with a few hundred people and no-one says anything?

What about how they are discussing current operations?  :p

From my very limited understanding, it appears that, if it did take the southern flight path, then it had to fly over Indonesia. Were there no radar intercepts there? Or was it like Malaysia where apparently nothing showed up on their radars as it flew over? Puzzled.

Put the following two sets of coordinates into Google maps and see what you think:
40.0800° N, 116.5844° E
40.0800° S, 116.5844° E

Notice the locations and how similar the coordinates are except for one for letter!

Now that can't possibly be a coincidence

Except that the debris is at 90.57.37E some 2000km west of the southern coordinates.
As a comment on FT went I don't think it is a coincidence that Albany is south of Peking.

Yes the bizarre thing is that Malaysia quickly discounted eye-witnesses plane sighting in the Maldives because the chief of their defence force said that it did not show on their radar. However it never showed on anyone else's radar either!
Then 5 minutes later everyone is busily distracted looking around in circles off Perth because of 2 smudges on a photo.

Maybe it's just because it's Friday night and my brain is fried, but I have to ask...Huh? What on earth is in Albany? I know it gets naval vessels in port from time to time, but really?

The Southern inverse of Peking is Albany,ie not where the debris was seen.

Routes are normally automatically uploaded at the start of a flight. We check the waypoints. The total distance is also shown, as is the predicted fuel...so a reciprocal load would be pretty obvious.

So 2 Japanese P3s joining search.2 chinese surveillance aircraft have arrived in KUL to join search in southern corridor.
HMS Echo on way to join search.

There are also 5 Chinese warships with three helicopters on their way.

Not really. It could have flown around Indonesia.

Sure. I just seem to be missing the relevance considering the search area is some 2000 km west of Albany?

The relevance is because people are saying that southern inverse is in the search area. That was the point of saying it's Albany.

I wonder whats caught the attention on board the GLEX to make it stay another 5 hours down in the search area, now due back after 7PM Perth time.
