Having read through the posts here (and read the papers and watched the TV reports) I think there has been too much critisim of how and where the search was kicked off. Of course people are looking for someone to blame it's only human. It's always going to be the other guys fault.

The Malay Govt is an easy target and hind sight is 20-20. We've been saying for 30 years it's a developing country and yet expect it to have the technology and systems of the US because we would expect our own Govt to have it.

If someone wanted a plane to vanish it can be done; well a plane has vanished. I don't think Australians should rush to be critical, we lost a Prime Minister at a beach and never found him. (then bizarrely named a swimming pool after him)

I just felt I needed to say it.

Not lost. Already mentioned he was living in N.Korea. ;)

Malaysian A/g Transport Minister just reported on CNN about new Chinese sat. imagery of a floating object in southern corridor, approx. 22 metres wide. The press conference was cut short because of this information.

Just had a breaking news segment on channel 7 news in Perth stating the same thing.

Supposedly 22x28m, very similar to previous reported debris sightings via sat, at 28m it isn't a container.

ABC News 24 says this may be a "lost in translation" issue as other reports said 20x13m.

It further lends support to the lithium (battery) theory.

My main concern with that theory is the lack of comms back to base from the crew.

But as JB pointed out, comms is a low priority in emergencies.

Interesting that until now the only cargo reported was mangosteens, no mention of the lithium batteries that everyone gets excited about when you take them on aircraft. Maybe I missed it.
