Just booked 2 x J MNL-LHR on MH. Anyone know if I am we are entitled to a hotel for the 15 hour overnight layover in KUL? Is the Golden lounge open 24/7?
Thanks in advance!

I think it's likely you would be entitled to a carriers expense stopover, ring MH to confirm, if not the Golden Lounge would not be a great alternative given the cost of a five star hotel room downtown is often $100.

For transits over 6 hours (in J), you are entitled to a complimentary stay at the Sama-Sama Hotel (previously the Parkroyal). The Golden Lounge is open 24 hours.

She was clearly having a bad day and the airline wasn't helping either. The hotel accommodation is written in the T&Cs of the ticket. You have to look carefully at the conditions. You are entitled to the hotel if your closest connecting flight is over 6 hours. So, if your booked connecting flight is over 6 hours but there is another flight under that time (but you couldn't get on it when you bought your ticket), you are technically not entitled to the hotel stay. Sneaky fine print, I say!

That would be dependant on fare type paid, for instance Family J savers (business promo) dont have it??? In the case of the OP re MNL-LHR : eligibility of stpc will subject to fare must be more than nuc 800 per one way per sector and connection has to be more than 6-hours.

I just bought a J ticket from SYD to LHR in January. It's a Z class ticket and the transit is just a little over 7 hours. I checked the T&Cs on my ticket and the hotel accommodation was written there. I'll ring MH the week before I fly to make sure a room has been booked.

As I said in the previous post, it will vary according to the fare rules for each city pairing, saying its included when over 6 hours is not always correct.

nuc 800 per one way?? Pardon my ignorance but what is nuc?

A neutral unit of currency - basically an IATA currency used for ticket sales only where all the currencies are converted to one for fare calculation.

OK, thanks for that. How do I work out if I have paid '800 nuc per one way'. I paid US$1970 for J MNL-LHR.
Thanks!

You would need to find out the current NUC exchange rates or just ring MH, its per sector so it would need to be higher than 1600

And what would the cost be to get downtown?

I have been looking at Doubletree Hilton which is ~AUD125 and cost to/from at the cheapest is likely to be ~AUD50+ so a total of ~AUD175.

The Concorde KLIA wins hands down at ~AUD65 including breakfast for 2 and free shuttle to/from airport. So unless you really need to spend the night downtown....

KLIA express is $10 each each way, options in KL start from $20 if Tune is to your liking, or 4000 SPG points at Aloft (two BRG bonuses so effectively a free night) ;)

I've just finished a stay at the Doubletree. The taxi from the airport was 55 Ringit..about 20AUD and took about 40mins.

I anded at 8:30pm so traffic into KL wasn't too bad. But wouldn't want to be taxiing out of the city between 4 and 8..traffic is horrendous.

Last time I was in the MH Golden Lounge satellite lounge, I was told that the only showers were in the J lounge area.

But today...I'm told there are actually washrooms in the F area so I had to check it out. They are significantly better than the J showers

Just about puts an end to that thought. Arrive ~10:30pm and need to leave before 7:00am. I don't want to spend ~AUD170 for 5-6 hours sleep and some points.
