Alright, now that we all know each others' position on that subject :D, how about sticking to posting about the topic from hereon. PM's are a wonderful thing for off topic conversations ;) (and yes, before anybody gets on their high horse, we are all guilty of setting a thread off on a tangent from time to time, me included :o)

Are there many who haven't re-completed the edoc tool yet munitalP? They look like missing out if they aren't quick.
 
I have been deliberately avoiding responding to the link in the hope I could make this work but unfortunately the planets have not aligned for us we are now definite no shows. :( :( :(

I/we trust that everyone has a great time and I expect to see plenty of pictures.

If you are not coming and have previously indicated you are coming, please PM me. People (namely me) have to guarantee meal numbers with a credit card, and this is based on information at hand. If you are not coming, please confirm!

Also, I DO NOT appreciate other events hijacking this one. I have spent many countless hours talking to Hiltons, Airlines and other suppliers and the effort put into this whole event is enormous - it is done to benefit everyone who is attending, not give a springboard for other events - want to organise something else, fine, just dont do it here!

I WOULD NOT do it to others (Hijack the thread), I expect THE SAME back. I'm very disappointed in the tangents that keep popping up on this thread after both LINDSAY W (2 times) and I have asked to keep ON TOPIC.

I think if you are not attending, there is no need for comments or advice from this point on.

Hi guys and girls!

A little over a week to go to the event and I thought I would give an update:

As we are all aware, we have some great supporters of this event. I have now got commitment from:

Velocity - who will also be attending
Qantas
Cathay Pacific
Hilton Hotels

and I am currently romancing a couple of others, one of which looks likely to come on-board.

The agenda is such:

1700 - 1800: Registration and payments organisation not to mention a couple of sneaky drinks! You will be issued a name badge stamped by the Hilton
1800 - 1900: Canapés and Drinks for all attendees in the lounge - standard Hilton format
1900 - 1930: Migrate to our walled off part of the lounge - this is the balcony area and all the ocean facing areas of the lounge.
1930 - 2000: Kris Kringle and door prize give away
2000 - ????: Dinner served with chef in attendance & wait staff. There will also be a cash bar operating with barman

Because of catering requirements, I must close off this event for registration midnight Sunday 24th June.

At this point in time, our meals are set at $96.00 per person which is payable directly to the Hilton if you are staying in-house, if not in-house, you will need to pay me direct or have someone else add you to their room and you pay them direct. As I have had to guarantee numbers, we have to pay for a minimum of 30 guests, please don't be a no show as this will equally increase everyone's night cost!

Over the next couple of days, I will email everyone who indicated they were interested in a quality wine menu. The idea here is on consensus, we can choose a sample of quality wines which will be separate from the existing list. They wont be Dan Murphy prices, however, they wont be restaurant prices either. From the choices made, the price will be set, and these wines will be delivered to one/two of the tables - further details to follow.

If anyone is coming just for drinks -please PM me, I'll ask a few single attendees in private to guest you - this should work however, if it does not, be prepared to pay the Hilton for access to the lounge (I'm sure this wont be the case though and the more the merrier!)

I have thought about some music - if someone local wants to bring a stereo along, that would be the go - just the amp and speakers, I will bring an iPod dock, and put my iPod on shuffle after dinners over - thoughts?

The people who indicated they were keen to share a ride - coming in is very scatter, however, leaving on Sunday, there's a few of us all flying at around 3pm. I will talk direct next Saturday to you suffice to say, the Hilton concierge is on the case and will find a suitable maxi van.

Just to confirm from the text, if we are staying in house, there is no problem with telling Hilton to put it on a room account?

I don't know what the departure schedule on Sunday is looking like, but depending on how it all lays out and if you are from / departing from BNE, there is the possibility that I can take a few people with me (at least one or two spots will probably have been taken by the time this message has been posted).

In addition, everyone brings a wrapped, $10 or less gift for the Kris Kringle? I'm new to KK for this Do, but the last time I did KK we drew random names from a hat and was supposed to buy a gift for them. What's the deal here - is it randomised on the night and we hand the gift to them? (In other words, find the more or less generic gift under $10?)

Sorry if that last question sounds obnoxious...

Correct - the smart travellers will find someone with a Maquarie card and put it all on their room or however it works

Yep - a unisex $10 gift, random draw - knowing this motley crew I'd be careful not to include anything with sharp edges :oops:

Note that it appears stays straddling the June/July cut offs might not be eligible for the Q2 Double Miles/Points promotion. (e.g. June 30th-July 1st) depening on what "nights completed" actually means.
