Has anyone seen any little surprises in their Hilton booking?

You mean you can get information from the Hilton site? I just tried and was faffed about so much I could barely see there was even a reservation there. Every time I wanted to see a different page I had to log in again and

Love the hotels but hate the web site.

Not unusual when staying at HHonors properties as a Diamond (or even a Gold) in Oz.;)
Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

I have been clearing emails etc tonight, replying to people like Webjet who declined to support the event, Samsonite who were not even polite enough to respond to multiple emails and tweets as well as others who declined (who were long shots) and had a few moments to look at the great support shown to our group.

This will pretty much be my last post on this thread till during or after the event, there again I may just leave the photos to do all the talking, however, I want to in open forum thank the following:

Velocity / Virgin Australia. As well as attendance, they have come up with a raft of unbelievable Xmas gifts, and if you can keep a secret, someones going to walk away from the event very happy...

Qantas. Red Roo has supplied some great gifts as Xmas presents, and just quietly, there will be no need to steal the mouse mats from the F lounge for some!

Cathay Pacific - they have supplied an awesome gift - thanks!

Hilton - along with gifting the lounge use / access, gifting the event component i.e. settings, bon bons, staff for serving (in conjunction with Luke Mangan) and a chef, they have also sponsored a nice little gift that I am sure will find it's place on the night. Kerrie, thank you for the resilience with my constant changes and demands, a true professional in your field.

Finally - thanks to everyone who is coming along. If I'm not mistaken, this will be possibly the biggest AFF event yet (I am happy to stand corrected) and the organising has been quite full on - I wont say I have enjoyed every moment, but when I see everyone enjoying themselves on Saturday night, all these months of planning will be worth the hours I have spent on the phone, the barrage of tweets and emails to suppliers to the industry we are all common players in, and the other stuff that goes along with this organising, it will be worth every moment and dollar I have spent :-)

T minus something - I cant wait...

Thanks MunitalP, looking forward to a great event!!!

Just procured my Kris Kringle gifts from myself and the OH. I believe it'll make some avgeeks rather pleased, though obviously not a patch on the gifts the official Velocity attendee is bringing. No I'm not telling. ;)

See you all tomorrow. :D

I've never really been a mystery present kind of a person (although we have it at work) but Mrs LW wants in - so I have 2 presents. Got to find a box or wrapping paper for one, it's a difficult size...

Indeed, our first nights' room accomodation (tonight) now is on the Exec Floor :D ;) so matches Saturday's Exec Floor booking. I'm not sure whether the uplift is due to my Gold status or our esteemed organisers' abilities - either way, I am grateful. Will be nice to kick back tonight with nibbles on the Exec Floor, a bottle of wine (got a voucher :D), a view and peace & quiet - just the two of us.

We're heading to Seaworld tomorrow (early) making (final) use of our MyFun passes as they expire. Will be back by 2 or 3pm for a freshen up and early drinks :D.

My SIL just told me tonight that the Gold Coast marathon is on Sunday morning. Worth taking note if anyone's planning on leaving early on Sunday:
Course Maps
Katie, thank you - we have an 8am departure planned so I had better study the map. Looks like Nerang-Broadbeach Road is my best exit point back out to the highway, rather than Smith Street :o

I have been avid follower of this thread from the beginning, with the hope that i may have been able to attend and have the opportunity to meet other AFF'ers. Unfortunately circumstances will not allow me to this time. I hope those attending have an awesome time and I look forward to reading updates over the weekend . As for munitalP, you should be showered with all the praise under the sun , for your exceptional organisational skills & patience. I hope that those AFF'ers attending will " look after" you on the weekend.

+1, its shaping up to be another fantastic munitalP feat of organisation :)
I'll be patching up the great Australian public all weekend and watching this thread eagerly for all the updates and pics ( though not doing both at the same time :p)

Yes. I too am present challenged when it comes to this kind of thing. Luckily I know that food grog and travel is the glue that tues us all together. So a bit easy for once

Well about to set off , will do lunch down there, then a meeting or two. Then out to dinner. The excitement is building.

Checked in!

No upgrade for me, but having said that, the only upgrade would have been to a 3 bed apartment (what I was secretly hoping for) but with the hotel fully booked, all the 3 bedders are sold!

I did though, have a personalised greeting card from the GM, a fruit platter and an ice bucket with 2 bottles of something (beer I think) waiting in the room for us so better than nothing.

GC weather looks to have fined up nicely for the event(s) so we're off to the pool for a relax now.

Made it. 10th floor facing east. Nice ocean view.

No status for us. So no fruit or beer :-)

The "beer" turned out to be 2 bottles of sparkling water . Oh well, there's always the lounge.....
(PS... 46th floor for us. The best we've done previously is 49th, so not quite as good but still awesome views of a very rough looking surf)

Okay, 5pm is here and we are leaving BNE, so leave us a seat in the Exec Lounge. Should be there in 90 minutes.
