MR New Frequent Traveller Partner Redemption Rates

With the 50% uplift that US Dividend Miles is giving though, 79,999 works out better unless I'm wrong with my calculations?

79,999 -> 94,999 (so that's the 15k bonus) which then becomes 142498 US Dividend Miles.
vs
60,000 -> 75,000 which then becomes 112,500, plus another 20,000(+5,000) which then becomes 137500 US Dividend Miles.
Agreed if you want to move this many this would appear to be best way as according to T&C US only give uplift once. And the US uplift (50%) is better that the SPG uplift (25%). It just that at the 60K point you get both.

Close to 100 posts and still no clarification.

To me it appears like there are new transfer rates for some airline partners and there are also bonus points on offer to some partners for the month of March.

I believe this webpage is fairly clear.

Decisions, decisions but I may wait a little bit longer to use my hard earned Amex MR points....
I think I've made my choice, I will have 80K MR points by end today, was going to transfer to Asia Miles for a J flight to Asia but now think better value is to transfer to US with the latest promo. 62.5% of a Europe flight is IMO a better return than an Asia flight.

Would be interested to hear which way others have decided though, maybe I've missed something. And yes, I'm thinking we need to complete by EOM, except for the SPG change am not relying on any of these lasting (hoping but not expecting).

If you are going to Hong Kong I would transfer to Virgin Atlantic
there upper class is fantastic and they have a 30% bonus transfer at the moment return j to hong kong is 80k

Noone else prepared to divulge how they are going to transfer their MR point?

Must admit VA does sound attractive, still probably going for US as if I went VA it would be only me flying and have other points in US so wife and daughter can come too. Don't think they'd be very happy to see me doing this alone, they are funny like that.

I TF 40000 SPG points (of which 10000 SPG pts were topped up from AMEX) to US dividend miles today. I hope the TF to US makes the April 10 deadline for the 50% bonus....so I'm hoping 40000 SPG translates to 75000 US dividend miles:idea:

Some good ideas being put forward here guys.

I will be looking into MR>SPG>US DM I think. Only have 90k in Amex but already have 35k in US. But then I was always going to transfer say 20k across for VA with the bonus.

And have already booked to Europe in July in F using miles. Decisions decisions..

I think for this month if you want to stay in a hilton/conrad property I think the following is a good idea:

Transfer your MR to VS at 1:1 + 30% bonus and then transfer from VS to Hilton Honors at 1 VS point = 2 HH points! To me it is a great deal! I am planning to do this so I can do a cash+points 7 night stay in Conrad HKG!

Yes sometimes hotels are the best value. As an example 4000 MR = 2000 SPG will get you a night at
[h=3]Aloft Bangkok - Sukhumvit 11[/h] Am sure there are plenty of other great options out there but this is a good one for those overnighting in BKK on one of the TG flights so many seem to be taking.

Newbie question from a new Amex cardholder here: how often do Amex run promotions like this one?

I've just received/activated my Plat charge card (literally yesterday) but have gone straight to just over 100k MR points (80k sign-on bonus + $16k tax bill through the card yesterday). Wondering if I should redeem some of these points before the end of March to take advantage of the current bonuses, but I'd prefer to warehouse with Amex for now if these types of bonuses aren't too infrequent.

I don't think there is any real since to these but if you banked on it being approx once per year you would not be too far wrong.

OK, that's odd. I transferred 158,500 points from MR to SPG and only half of them have credited. I wonder if the other half will credit tomorrow?

The transfer ratio from MR to SPG is 2:1. You get half the SPG points compared with the MR points transferred. The other poster was talking about transferring SPG points to airlines for the 20000:25000 ratio.

I transferred about a million points to various partners. Amex Cent rep said they do not know whether the new ratios are permanent or temporary, but there is not current cut off date except for the 31Mar for the separate bonuses.

Thanks - I think I'll hold the points in MR for now. I checked again and there aren't any bonuses transferring to SQ - I'd mistakenly thought there was - and I'd imagine they will be the main beneficiary of my MR points so no point rushing into anything.

Thai are star alliance and give you one for one plus a ten % bonus I made a mistake should have transfer my points to Thai instead of Virgin Atlantic
Redeemed 184k MR points for 240k Virgin Atlantic

Booked return Syd Akl HNL business class for two people for 240K VA point
could have done this for 136MR points had I transferred it to Thai
plus you neve know when you want that holiday and when you do the bonus's are not there and neither the award flight Availablity

Suggest you hedge your bets and put half in a FF and the other half with MR just like a well balanced portfolio but before invest your hard earn points in a FF program check them all before diving in learn from my VIRGIN ATLANTIC mistake

Accordubg to thepointsguy.com Blog the SPG transfer Tate for US MR member will expire on the 31 March 2012
So I gather this will be the same for the Aussie MR program

On another note Thai sent me an email saying the MR Exchange rate and bonus will conclude on 31 March 2012

Some good ideas on this thread and this is probably one of them.

Transferred 42,308 MR points to VS Flying club and still sitting on 270,000~ Amex MR points but I do not need any more flights until sometime mid next year.

Hoping more specials appear if and when needed. ;)

Last day for 1:1 and bonus points!

Has anyone managed to receive their 25% bonus points for Malaysia Airlines? If so, how long did it actually take? I know the T&Cs say 4-6 weeks but I am hoping some of you have had points credited earlier.

Although it says it will be credited by the partner, it seems that once AMEX processes the transfer, the points get credited to the partner's account immediately? Or am I incorrect? Reason I say this is that I was waiting for points to be transferred to AM and the hold up was on AMEX's side (online said it was still "in progress"). Once my account manager hassled the redemptions team, the status changed to "fulfilled" and the points were immediately in my AM account.

If this is the case, I might hassle my account manager to push for the 25% MAS bonus to be credited early!

Would be good to hear all your thoughts/experiences.

It took about ten days for the bonus points to show up. It says they are Danamon Amex Card bonus points, whatever that means.
