I am an apology.

But more than likely will be at November 9 drinks

Unfortunately I am unable to attend Sam, but will certainly see you at least a few times before you sign off.
I will be there for drinks on the 9th for sure.
XOXOX

Sam, regardless of our differences in the past, I will be trying to organise my work life to coincide with this event - 90% sure at this stage.

I need white hair as well...

Probably not going to be able to make this either as I just arrive home the day before. A good steak & red wine sounds like a great bon voyage meal though.

I'm no go - in Melbourne. Have a great day. Will be sad to see you go as you've made a positive and very active contribution here.

Sam - any further hints on why you're leaving? Just had enough of us all???:p

How about the floor of Chateau Lawlass?

Doubt I'll be able to make this Sam, but no doubt will catch up somewhere.

When I saw you reply, I pictured you going "YESSSS. Another entry to the Qantas ASA Competition!"

1. Competition closed.

2. Points balance disturbingly close to nil :(

I have to move on to a packet of drumsticks a day now.

I've now booked into (rydges) for the fri and sat nights. So my availability is firming up.

Hope your retirement will be brief.

I hope so too.

If not OS, will be there for sure. Nothing like an old red with a piece of BBQed meat and Qld heat/humidity. Just like Bkk. My 2nd home.

Sounds good!

Sam. It was great to meet you at the accidental F lounge run the other week. I really enjoyed the company of yourself & the other guys from BNE. I'm seriously trying to figure out how I can attend this as it will be a shame to not bump into you again.

Well, not for a while at least.

That was a long day ;)

All the best and may life be good for you, your sister, the dog and the penguin.

All of those will probably make an appearance, I’ll have to ask where Penny is in particular :p

I am sure we will catch up before hand, like in Brisbane.

Look forward to it, as always.

Dammit Sam, sorry to hear! Hope you may reconsider but respect you've made a decision. I have a commitment in rural Victoria on the 13th so am an unlikely starter, but will check out the possibilities whgm back home on MEL later today.

No worries, it’s only a BBQ after all.

I enjoyed our breakfast together onboard FJ Nan-Syd in March this year!

I forgot about that… the waffles were great.

Sorry to hear you're leaving Sam. I'm just on the other side of the park from you and I'd love to attend.

I’ll see you here then.

If it were Sunday I may have been able to make it. I'll catch up with you though.

Sorry about that. I’m sure I’ll see you before or after though.

Sam, sorry to hear that you won't be around for a while, hopefully only a short time. You have made a terrific contribution to the forum since joining and you will be missed. Enjoy wherever or whatever you move onto next. Thanks for the invitation, I'm not able to get there, but hope you have a blast.

Shorter time away the better :D

I have only met you a couple of times, and found you very pleasant, and sociable. I have always read your interesting informative posts. I will try to get down after work (Should be finished around 5.30pm). And have a few Strongbows with you

Perhaps we can re-cap a few from the lounge! ;)

samh004, I'm a doubtful starter. Will hopefully catch up beforehand or subsequently...

You’ve been to Royal Pines countless times before though, maybe not my place, but you know you’re not missing that much…

Good, look forward to catching up.

Except I don’t eat steak, but others will be :p

Sam - any further hints on why you're leaving? Just had enough of us all???

I haven’t had enough, that’s for sure, though I have slowed down a little of late.

How about the floor of Chateau Lawlass?

Doubt I'll be able to make this Sam, but no doubt will catch up somewhere.

I knew there was another floor I was forgetting. Indeed, those sweat and *cough* umm stained mattresses were just the thing after a day of flying.

I've now booked into (rydges) for the fri and sat nights. So my availability is firming up.

Shows what I know about the Gold Coast, didn’t even realise they had a property here.

I shall be posting address details shortly. I’ve drawn a rather disturbing mud map over google maps, as I don’t have a real street address. As anyone that has visited me before will attest to, your GPS wont help you past a certain point! ;)

P.S. Sorry I didn’t multi-quote everyone, the post was starting to get a bit long and I was just repeating myself over again…

I am now a definite scratching for the BBQ on the 12 November.

I will be flying on the 12 November departing 1:40pm, Qantas cancelled my connecting flight HKG-LHR on the 13 November, no I am not a fortune teller I just didn't read the latest schedule change properly. I was able to get on a flight via Singapore, but couldn't stretch it into a flight via Sydney for some First lounge though.

All I can say is hope for the best.

I realise I should have updated this a while ago, I’m just lazy.

I’ve drawn a rather colourful mud map over a Google maps view, as the roads end at a certain point and you’ll need directions to get to my house. When I drew up the map I used lots of colours, now I’ thinking that was silly, but I’ll try to explain the route.

Basically you need to get to Ross St, Ashmore. Or Royal Pines Resort (which is off Ross St). The complex straddles both sides of the road, yet I am on the "hotel" side of the road. Sometimes visitors end up really far away from the hotel, on the other side of the complex. That’s no where near me.

My map starts with red lines, These red lines lead off ross St. If you’re coming from the South (Broadbeach) or have passed Metricon stadium (home of the GC Suns), then you’ll need to take the second left on the first roundabout and head over the bridge. The bridge hears to the hotel, but there is a turn off (left) before the hotel to another roundabout. This would be the one you’d hit if you were driving from the North or Ashmore/Bundall/Surfers/Southport/Brisbane way. At this roundabout you need to go left if driving from the North (first exit) or straight over/right if coming over the bridge (3rd exit).

This connects you to an orange road on my map, that leads to a gatehouse. At the gatehouse you need to inform the security guards who you are visiting, and then continue on when they give the all clear.

After passing through the security gates the road snakes round and goes on for a bit. The first right is Spring Terraces, the second right is South Shields, and the blue road on my map. You need to take the second right. From there, go take the second right again to my place, though parking might be elsewhere, depends how many drive down.

<map redacted on request>

Obviously, leaving all these details on a public forum does give me some worry, but I’m not planning on travelling anywhere for a while, so potential burglars (not forum members), meh.

My username probably wont work at the gatehouse, so use my full name: Sam Heathfield. I’m in house 2111.

As for what to bring?

I’m going to provide plenty of reds and perhaps a bottle or two or Champagne, and meat for the BBQ, but if you have specific dietary requirements, you might need to bring them along yourself, and specific drinks… well I have a large spirit collection and fresh mint growing in the garden (did someone say mojito’s?) but not all the correct ingredients for every drink!

Time?

Mid-to-late afternoon stretching into dusk and evening is fine. You’re more than welcome to come earlier or later.

I hope I’ve covered all bases.

I'm sorry I can't make it, Sam. In AFF style, I'll be in the US having a mini status run. Man, and you're still the only AFFer I've met in the flesh and guested into a lounge! :)

No worries… but shouldn’t you also be looking at Virgin ;)

Surprising really as there are a load of FF’s in BNE… :p

Ended up in Sydney tonight, get back on the Gold Coast around 1400 tomorrow. Best case scenario I'll drop by around 1700ish.

Look forward to catch up with everybody.
