Mystery Qantas Club membership?

I've been LTG for around 9 years so I don't know. I do find it odd that mine shows a middle of the month random date, as opposed to other examples being the end of month dates(which makes more sense). I don't think March 17, 2055 is an interger overflow type date or anything obvious like that. In theory I could well still be alive then (though probably not) so... dunno.

more amused than anything else.

I renewed my Qantas Club membership for 2 years (there was a promo at work) and then I hit gold less than 2 months later. I have been gold or platinum ever since, so I have 22 months of unused paid membership (which would kick back in should i ever drop to silver again before reaching LTG).

Mine says May 2025 which is neither 22 months from today, nor my July anniversary and I am Platinum until at least July 24 and therefore gold until July 25 so who knows,

The expiry date appearing on mine coincides with the end of my membership year this year - but I have already requalified for Platinum until next year. 🤷‍♂️

Hmm mine is showing 2 years from the end of the current membership year, which makes sense. This is because I have 24 months of Qantas Club membership "cached".

Mine actually lines up with my anniversary date. Pointless since im SG atm
QANTAS CLUB MEMBER
Your membership expires Tuesday 31 October 2023

Ditto - I just noticed that on my profile screen as well. I'm currently WP (expires on 30 June), LTG and PC+. I do have a few months of unused/suspended Qantas Club membership from when I got to Gold, but that was back in 2012.

But that date doesn't line up with anything I can think of. A mystery!

The T&C's seem to contradict your last statement quite clearly.

You are correct. My understanding is per the terms and conditions… you get QF club membership while you are gold or above.

This is apparent if you have *never* held Club membership other than via status, and your status drops from gold to silver… you are given the option to continue your Club membership without having to pay the joining fee (since you were ‘joined’ when you got your gold the first time).

This is correct..it used to be more clearly written, but Gold and above get a complimentary membership to Qantas Club

I think that’s an outdated concept that predates the domestic business lounges.

If you’re WP and only fly to the main capitals and overseas, you’d never set foot in a Qantas club.

That made more sense when the Qantas club was the name for the whole lounge program, but it’s not anymore.

Mine shows this too - with a different expiry date to my Gold expiry date. I know I have some Qantas Club cached from around 2009ish but I no longer have the invoice to check the date.

It might be an outdated concept, but it is in the terms and conditions

20.1.7 Complimentary Qantas Club membership for the period a Member maintains Gold, Platinum and Platinum One tier is provided subject to the Qantas Club terms and conditions.

Yes we’ve been over that. It’s still outdated.

I don’t need qantas club membership to access the lounge. I have WP and OWE. All of my benefits come from my status and none come from Qantas Club membership.

The lounge access for WP and even SG is superior to that of Qantas Club membership.

You may not see the point, but it is what allows paid memberships to be put on hold, and extended for the period of the complimentary membership.

No, it’s because you have access to a superior program, that being OWS/OWE. Your Qantas Club membership is suspended during this time.

I haven’t heard of anyone attaining gold and been asked to fill in a Qantas Club membership application.

The point remains, there is nothing in the lounge entry requirements that require me to have Qantas Club membership to enter the Qantas Club, for the same reason other oneworld elites don’t need it. And I get access to BA lounges but Qantas Club members don’t.

All of this was written in the days of a single lounge program and no oneworld alliance. Things moved on since then, although apparently not the T&Cs. Not that surprising for QF.

And also to snag you in if your gold status lapses… you can renew the membership without paying a joining fee.

FWIW VA seems to have the same system… VA gold and platinum supposedly become ‘members’ automatically.

Well the plot thickens, the text on the Qantas Club membership page referring to PC+ certainly reads to me that elite status supersedes Qantas Club membership.

Points Club Plus members will receive complimentary digital Qantas Club Individual membership for the duration of their Points Club Plus membership. Digital Qantas Club membership means that a member will not have a physical Qantas Club membership card but will be able to access their Qantas Club membership from their smartphone and view Qantas Club benefits online at qantas.com/qantasclub. If a member attains or retains Gold, Platinum or Platinum One tier and Points Club Plus level in the same Membership Year, only one Lounge Access benefit will be awarded, and the Qantas Frequent Flyer tier benefits, which contain more widespread lounge access globally, will prevail.

Mine shows until anniversary date as well. SG, PC. On track to retain SG and GT, but definitely dropping PC.
