I think they make up the policy as they go along. The story I got was that the discount was only valid for two years, so I lost it despite using their service several times per year.

I'd agree with this. Used the service probably 3 times in the preceding 12 months, emailed in advance to confirm it would have no annual fee and they still charged me, but gave me an immediate credit. They have replied to my email requesting a refund and I will keep monitoring the account. If I end up out of pocket I will request a minimum $20 credit to the account.

Yep, mine gets auto waived each year, touch wood. There appears to be no clear pattern.

Hi,

Thank you for using MyUS.com and our American Express promotion. I came across your discussion, and want to help as much as possible.

Our agreement with American Express includes two years of complimentary Premium Membership. You can view the offer, offer details and terms of service at our American Express page here: MyUS.com - Amex-2013 (Note that this page is currently being updated and, though it will look a little different soon, the offer is still the same)

Our annual Premium Memberships automatically renew each year on the anniversary of your MyUS.com membership, and the promotion applies to your membership from the day you become a member. If you were to become a member today under this promotion, you would not pay a membership fee until two years from today (2016).

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any questions or if I can provide any assistance, please let me know.

Best regards,

Thanks for joining the thread Keith.

I've been a fan of MyUs for years but now the shipping costs have risen so dramatically it appears, for the same weight in goods that recently I cancelled my membership. I know the costs were changed to volumetric but can't help but think that's ruined the viability of me using the service.

Thanks for clarifying the situation for complimentary membership being for 2 years only. Given that the shipping costs have increased over time such that even with the 30% discount it is more expensive than regular DHL shipping, I cannot justify paying an annual membership fee so will be cancelling my account prior to 2 year anniversary of my membership. While the service was good at the start, the cost increase means its no longer viable for me to use.

I don't remember this two year limit originally being in the offer... maybe I'm blind though.

That's because the two year rule was only created a year into the promo. Originally there was no mention of a limit.

Thank you all for the feedback and the warm welcome to the forum!

We have definitely heard your concerns about price, and we are very much aware that some recent changes (especially in shipping to Australia) have been less than pleasant. We are currently working on a variety of projects that should help improve the situations. I do not have a lot of details yet, but you should start seeing some improvements in the coming weeks and months.

Thank you again for using MyUS.com!

Has anyone shipped anything using the MyUS Trusted Carrier Network?

It seems much slower than DHL who even clears packages through customs on the weekends. The only reason why I had to go with them was because I got packages from two separate sellers...

At this stage there is still nothing on the AusPost site.

I have not used MyUS but just wanted to report a positive experience with hopshopgo.

I hit ship on Friday just after lunch. Had a discount code for free upgrade to international express shipping which was supposed to arrive on Thursday. Actually arrived today and was a shade under US$30 for a 1.5kg package (3kg volumetric).

Am fairly sure there is no annual fee and you get a 10% discount by signing up with paypal. They also do repacking for multiple goods as fair as I'm aware. I haven't used them extensively, but it could be an alternative for those looking for another forwarder.

YMMV.

Yep, then they'll leave it without signature. So much for the insurance you paid for...

Lovely. That's just what I want to hear with $800 worth of computer gear coming.
Luckily I paid for insurance, however I won't be trusting their "Trusted Carrier Network" again.

Good news! We will be making an announcement in the next few weeks about a new (and very well known) express courier we can now use for shipments to Australia. Keep an eye on your Inbox over the next few weeks for more information.

We can also still ship any package via FedEx, and packages from a single seller via DHL. These couriers are typically a little faster than the Trusted Courier Network.

Hi Kevan
Could you also make the announcement here as I've cancelled my account due to increase in shipping costs (doubled).
Thankyou.

But the shipping discount is a myth. They have changed the way the shipping size has been calculated so it costs more than before.

Yes, that is true. Will be interesting to see what the new courier will be when they make their announcement and what will happen to the shipping rates as a result.
