I have NAB Velocity card and have applied and been approved. In the application they ask for your NAB customer # - I was approved immediately.

Got the NAB card last year, late-ish...around Oct/Nov from memory. Got the 40k points! Woo Hoo! Just transferred into a family member account.
I get my statement last week & I'm charged $250 annual fee!! Not happy, so I ring NAB to cancel the card.
"Sorry but the 40,000 points are only applicable when the annual fee is paid". WTF? After hanging up, I checked the offer.

The advertising said "no fee for the first year". So is this the first year as in calendar year, or first year from date of opening the card account, or first year from first purchase, or what?

And seeing as I have been awarded the 40k points already and transferred them out of my FF account, can they reverse the points?

Cheers

Hi All,

Just applied this morning to get the 40K QFF points.

Once I clicked submit, it went to a page saying:

Dear k3nnis,

Congratulations. Your NAB Qantas Rewards Premium Card application has been approved. Please note your approved credit limit may be less than your requested credit limit.

We couldn't verify your identity etc etc.

I went to a NAB branch and verified my ID using drivers license and medicare card.

Does the above mean I was approved on the spot or will they call HR etc still?

edit: I am not a current NAB customer.

Thanks,
K.

You are approved and your card should arrive in about 7 days based on my past experience with NAB.

Was that the offer that closed on 19/10/2014? If so, there was no waiver of the annual fee for the first year. I know this, since I still have a spreadsheet that I put together around then, listing the various offers.

Do you still have a copy of the ad from when you applied? Do you still have your letter of offer? (Which will clearly state whether or not the fee is waived for the first year.)

Got 2 sets of cards in the mail today (me and +1's) after applying last Wednesday. :) Still waiting on offer letter and pins...... Very easy experience so far, and none NAB customers up until now as well!

If you print the page from your browser it should have a date printed on the footer of each page.

These days I print to PDFs for every application. Any sign of problems escalate to their internal disputes resolution team (I google for their email, don't bother with in informed CSR's), say you have a copy of the Offer page and offer them the chance to address before you escalate to FOS. those magical words (FOS) seem to elicite a favourable response in double quick time.

I have an 'old' NAB platinum cc that I've had for years. It does not give points, but I have a $20 direct debit on it that I haven't bothered changing and it just ticks over.

I have just called NAB to see if I can get this new one. Ran through a few Q&A, but he had trouble finding this actual promo and had to email him the link. He's going to ring me back when the email gets through.

Likely you're going to have to apply as a "new" customer to get the bonus points. Usually doesn't apply to existing customers transferring product. Will be interesting to see if they do give you the bonus points.

Hi,

Looks like this offer is available only if applying from Qantas site not from the NAB site.

Hi k3nnis,

I had the same situation last November when I applied for the Qantas platinum 20K points card. I got a call from CSR and was asked to sent the address proof to 'release' the card even though it was approved as per email.

You don't have to be a new customer, you just can't transfer the credit limit from another card. I already have the Vff card, just got the QFF.

Hi Knastty,

I think that's a good news, will try my luck next month and update.

Regards

Applied on the 28th approved with no fee. Called on the 29th to confirm my income (without proof). Told to expect my cards in the next 5-7 days. Hows that for responsible banking . Maybe because I had the platinum 3 years ago.

.... When I later requested a limit increase, I got knocked back....

I found out a few days ago (when I called to close my NAB Qantas basic card) that I only got knocked back for the credit limit increase because I requested it online within six months of obtaining it. Had I applied by 'phone, it probably would've gone through.
