NAB Qantas Premium 75k bonus

This is the first "platinum/black" card where I've seen you get 1.5 bonus points on Qantas spend, rather than 1 bonus point. From their T&C's.

"You will earn 1.5 Bonus Points for every dollar charged to your Card Account for the purchase in Australia of the following services directly from Qantas (ie. where Qantas, and not its agent, is identified as the merchant on the credit card transaction): Qantas flights, Qantas Club and Qantas Frequent Flyer memberships, and, purchases from 'Qantas Travel' customer shopfronts."

That means 3/ppd on Qantas flights, compared to the other black CC's which you'd just get 2.5/ppd.

The ANZ Black for $425/yr is nearly identical (their Visa gives you .25 more points), and you get ANZ Visa 'exclusive entertainment' offers for which I've received 1 in 6 months.
And this NAB is $250, 3ppd for Qantas, and has 24/7 as well. Looks like you don't receive Qantas lounge access through when you buy international qantas flights.

This would be marketed under the Black level as offered by ANZ/Westpac.
For starters there is a $25k points cap per statement period.
The extra 0.5 bonus points per dollar on QF spend probably won't make much of a difference to many.
75k bonus and $1500 spend is rather generous compared to other Platinum level cards.

Tempted by this actually.

3ppd on QF spend is a bit of a sweetener.

3ppd? I thought it was 1.5p per dollar with amex and then 1 bonus p for spending with QF? So 2.5p per dollar?

My card arrived 'priority' post two days after approval so now I'm working on spending that $1.5K :) This and the Citibank bonus should net me 145,000p which I hope to put into a QF F ticket next year.

Sorry I missed that. Great news!
I just received my NAB card and in the documents it says “You can also earn 1 extra Qantas point for every dollar…”
And I’ve just reviewed another brochure of theirs with the T&Cs and it states “1 point bonus” as well.
I’d say their website is incorrect L

Applied maby a week ago, turned into pending.

Rang them yesterday from overseas (free international calls to many countries on prepaid sim in USA).

Provided some payslips, approved and now showing on banking.

Ready to use once i get home (house re-stumping = $$$).

Has anyone been able to get both the Velocity and QF cards from NAB at the same time?

The bonus points is one of the better deals out there, especially if you've already had ANZ shower you with 75K of points in th elast 12 months.

trying to decide if worth applying for this card or if I should wait another month and try for the HSBC card.

Existing NAB Visa card holder. Would I receive the signon bonus if I applied for this card?

I currently hold both cards Qantas and Velocity but didnt applied at the same time , first applied for Qantas with 60K Bonus , 2 months later applied for Velo while still holding the Qantas , they didnt approved me at first due to my max credit limit which i have to call up and cut off some of the limit from Qantas card over to the new Velo , have spent and receivec both lots of bonus points ,

Thinking abt cancel the Qantas and apply again

I dont think you have any problem receivec the bonus , NAB have been very easy on this without 12 months rules and new cards rule

Applied.

Wasn't auto approved, but did get this:

I got the same penegal - but even without prompting (based on previous applications) I sent an email to [email protected] with title "Verification documents for Credit Card Application Reference xyz" and attached my payslips - got approved within 12 hours. Didn't even get notified I was approved - just showed up on my internet banking - rang and confirmed all was well.

Interesting. I will wait and report back.

I applied for this card on Monday, the system said
"Thank you for applying for a NAB Qantas Rewards Premium Card. We haven't been able to approve your credit card yet. We'llneed to take a closer look at your application, which can take a few days."

No email notification or anything.

Anyway, waited 24 hours and called up and quoted the application number, the lady on the service desk said it hadn't even been looked at, and if I can wait they can put it through to the assessor.
I said no problem and probably 30 seconds later, I was conditionally approved..

After that she said I have been given a lower credit limit than I applied for ($8,000). The funny thing is on the application I only applied for $6,000, ah bank, they never fail to make me laugh sometimes

Now I just have to give the the payslips, and hopefully I should be in business...

Applied.

After approx 1 day - SMS and email requesting payslips.

Payslips provided.

After approx 1/2 day - SMS confirming successful application. Card should show up in 5 days apparently.

I got the approval SMS at 1800 on a Thursday night, the card arrived (in Wollongong) the following Monday.

FYI I hit the $1500 threshold mid last week, and the 75K points arrived today. Fastest bonus I've ever had! The first statement only came out last week!

This isn't unusual with NAB. Other banks could learn a lot.

Now all you need to do is cancel immediately and reapply for the same offering!
