The new software keeps 'drafts' pretty efficiently. To 'cancel' a post without posting it, backtrack and erase everything written. Then go to the tool bar , about the third from the right, a black portrait page with clipped corner and an 'undo' circle. Select that, and 'delete draft'.

Excellent - that was exactly what I was looking for

Cheers

When I post in a thread, that thread completely disappears from 'new posts' and doesn't reappear there until I log out.

that's because the new post screen only shows unread threads. If someone replies then it will reappear.

When the new posts screen appears on the upper right is a link for Recent Posts.

This should give you what you desire here.

You may even consider bookmarking that link (sort of like the old "today's posts" on vB).

serfty (or anyone), how did you do the nested quotes in this post, please? Handling a missed flight situation

I think it must be done manually.

I use the plain-text editor (rather than the WYSIWYG editor) - not sure what @serfty uses - but it is very simple to put a quote in a quote using the plain-text editor, e.g.

Here is some quoted text...
...in which there is also some quoted text

As @serfty has done it in the example you've given, the nested quote doesn't have a direct link back to where the original post is, so my suspicion is that @serfty has manually created this quote-in-quote.

Is there anyway to stop GIFs and whatever other things people dump into forum posts to stop from loading automatically?

I try to avoid clicking on Youtube links or even opening trip reports but don't know which thread someone is going to post short videos that auto load without my permission.

I don't know of a setting to stop image and video content from loading, but I know youtube videos don't auto-play here.

While the image you highlighted earlier today was large, it would likely have made it onto vBulletin as well and is not considered to be too big for web by todays standards.

For what it's worth, my mobile comes with 30GB data per month, while my home broadband comes with 1000GB. It's the day and age we live in...

Can anyone post the new posts link again? Also, can we have the search results go to 400+ instead of 200 please?
Would love more than 20 per page but I understand that is currently a forum-wide setting. :(

Thanks! :)
With the demise of the app, and my phone model not being as fun for me to browse online, i need to be able to go a bit further back. Also look forward to the eventual new app!

Understood. I'll try to upgrade plans but for now it is 1GB.

The answer I was given after reporting the post was funny. Avoid that forum. But it could just as easily have been the Off-Topic thread or any other thread on AFF.

Is there a setting somewhere on a phone that stops these GIFs from auto loading? It should never happen and I hate it when news sites automatically start playing ads or news clips without my permission.

I recall Firefox (or another browser) previously had an offering that loaded content on their servers then served you a compressed image of the website instead, saving you bandwidth. This was a while ago now though and I may be getting my lines crossed.

@Admin and @support, another couple of queries I am passing on because I have no idea:

Is there a setting I can change so that I only get one notification of unread posts in conversations (like normal thread notifications) instead of a new email for every new post?

is there any way of doing a text-only archive/print view/display like with the previous website software?

@QF WP I'm not sure to the first question, but I haven't seen anything. As for the second question, this would most likely have to be added with an add-on, and may just be easier to copy/paste the pertinent posts into a word document for now.
