You can also use (QUOTE) and (/QUOTE) with square brackets. Sometimes it can be easier to simply type the tags out.
...
You can use [PLAIN]...[/PLAIN] tags to show
...
.

Unlikely; if you want to ignore someone, why would you be interested in their content?
Sometimes I could be interested in their content for various reasons like reporting the post to moderators.

Plus I can see the content when someone quotes the blocked post and subsequent posts referring to the blocked post content make no sense.

How do I quote from an external source? E.g. if I copy a few lines from a news article and want to make it clear they're not my words?

Next to images/video icons is a + button in a box. Press that and you get options including Quote.

Hi @Admin, another thought today, not sure if the software allows it and it may be just me, but is it possible to make the referral thread posting only for paid up members, and viewable by all? I find it a little hilarious that most of the posts there are from 1-3 post users looking for a free score. I've never actually posted a referral there as far as I can remember, but it might be a nice thing to limit referral from here to paid up posters.
Thanks again for the site and work!
Oh, also, i got 5 emails last gazette. Do I need to do something about this or is it being looked into?

The easiest way with freebies is to limit or only react to referrals to members with minimum numbers of posts and perhaps time of AFF membership.

This to be done by the member providing the offer.

I'm receiving 4-5 copies of the gazette email each time as well.

I don't see why only paid up members should have access to post in the referrals. I have over 3500 posts and have contributed to the site for quite a few years but am not paid-up member.

I'm not an admin, it's just a suggestion. They could go by post count or any other metric. But I can see arguments both in favour- referrals provide a direct financial benefit, so it may be one way to repay the site.
Admin will decide what works and what they want.

There are already minimum requirements. To post a referral the member must have at least 5 posts and been part of AFF for at least 30 days.

Posting Guidelines for Referral Offers

If you spot someone posting referrals who does not meet this criteria use the 'Report' function (bottom right of the post) to let the mod team know.

This is unrelated to the site move to Xenforo. TL;DR the service that provides gazette emails has long had an issue and we are trying to find a solution without switching services.

They could go by post count or any other metric.

As JT mentions, there is already such a metric in place.

No problem, thanks - I'll just keep deleting the extra emails :)

Hi are others still having problems with email notifications. I am still not getting a lot of mine despite unwatching and then rewatching the thread with email notifications. It feels like my profile has somehow become corrupted.

On the old website I used to see references under the user details as to whether the member had a blog on AFF or not and the number of entries. I very rarely went into the blog entries but when I did, I found them very interesting. Do the blogs still exist on the new website? I can't find references to them on the user IDs on each post or in the profile information.

I'm having trouble staying logged in on my iphone. I have created a new posts shortcut on my phone. When I open it I have to log in which is mildly annoying but when I open something in a new tab I have to log in again which is very annoying. I have set up autofill etc - any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Yes and it works on my iPad but not iPhone

Thanks

First of all, I want to say I love the new forums. I don't write here much, but for last year I wasn't reading either just because of how bad old forum was. This one is a very nice upgrade, thanks folks who are running this website.

My only complaint/wish would be to make page count permanently visible (currently it's only visible on mouse hover) -- size of a thread is an important information and it would be easier to jump straight to the last page without having to re-aim after page count becomes visible.

Thanks again.

You may know already, but to go to the last post, you click on the time stamp beneath the name of the last poster, on the right. To go to the last message unread by you in the thread, click on the blue dot between the thread starter's avatar, and the thread name, on the left.

If you then go back to 'What's new', the thread you just accessed won't appear (unless its been updated in those few minutes); in that case click on 'recent posts' above the table of threads, on the right if you want to go back to the thread again.
