New AFF Website

On my PC I have a bookmark for new posts and use that. But on my phone

Navigate to the page you want to "bookmark" on your phone, eg. What's New. Then use the "add to home screen" function. When launching AFF it goes right to new posts.

Alternatively, if you meant that after reading a thread you then want to quickly return to the list of new posts, these are my methods:

Press the "back" arrow to "browse" to the previous page... which means the list of new threads doesn't have to load again.

Open threads in a new tab, effectively a new window on the phone, and just kill it after reading.

Yes, both are work-arounds and I too would like a single click / touch option in the thread frame to directly return to the "whats new" list.

I look at the QF site around the fifth of the month as that is when each of our credit cards transfer in points for the previous month. We are both 2,160 Status Credits from P1.

How do I quote from an external source? E.g. if I copy a few lines from a news article and want to make it clear they're not my words?

Paste the words into the new post as usual, highlight them, then click on the icon which looks like a square with a '+' inside it (its 4th from the right on my view) and choose 'quote'. You might like to highlight them again, then use the 'paint' icon (4th from the left) to colour them black, else they will come out a pale grey:

If you can't see a square with a + inside, then look here:

Click on the "Insert ..." dropdown symbol: upload_2017-10-6_8-15-4.png , then click onupload_2017-10-6_8-16-19.png from the dropdown - that will place at the cursor or around the selected text.

I don't understand what you are saying serfty. Are you correcting, or adding to my post? The 'insert' symbol I have is per the pic in my post, a square quote 'balloon' with a '+' in it

Yeah I see it as you describe it also, not as Serfty sees it.

I've received four copies each of the latest AFF Community news and Gazette. Not a real problem because I can hit the delete button 3 times but others may find it annoying.

I think you can unsubscribe from these emails if you don't want them. There is an explanation somewhere in this thread about why everyone had to get subscribed to these emails when the system changed.

I enjoy the emails and want to read them but just once. :)

I am aware there is the occasional glitch and this was simply reporting it.

Yes that's my meaning and I too do exactly as you do and in the spirit of making constructive suggestions thought I may as well mention it.

The ignored users feature has changed.

In the old software it would show the post but hide the ignored content. I could then choose to view the ignored content.

In the new software there is no post with ignored content but a message at the end of the page "Show Ignored Content" and if you click on it you then need to find the post.

Also any threads started by ignored users do not show even if there are new posts.

Any chance we can tweak the new software to mimic the old software with ignored posts?

There are different manifestations; you are using the AFF style.

I use the XenoFora style as it's more efficient for me. (As is too, I note, Hvr)

Ah, that explains it. I like the XenoFora style too, but switched back to the AFF default as I understand the XenoFora style will be going at some stage.

You can also use (QUOTE) and (/QUOTE) with square brackets. Sometimes it can be easier to simply type the tags out.

This is the problem with having multiple user styles, as they may all differ it is hard to pinpoints icons that users should be looking for. I find the default style is the best to go with.

No. It is completely different software.

Unlikely; if you want to ignore someone, why would you be interested in their content?

Exactly.

As an aside, I'm not sure where XenoFora came from considering the software is called Xenforo :p
