New Amex statement credits

WRT the Hilton 300/150 offer:

Has anyone used wotif to make the booking with the pay at hotel option (thus getting cashbackrewards 8% back) and then paid the hotel to trigger the Amex credit?

Wouldn't you only get the 8% if you actual paid via wotif?

That's what I would have thought too. But wotif gave me the option and I got a cashrewards tracking your purchase email pretty much straight away. It's moot because I've cancelled the booking and wouldn't know for 90 days anyway but I presume that wotif has a way of getting their commission which would mean the cashback also pays out.

Can confirm the pay twice $60 get $20 back BP deal doesn't have to be completed in only two transactions.
I've done first $60 in one transaction and second $60 in four different transactions in different locations.

Hi Boomy....just wondering what card this was on and how long for the credit to show???
I have the edge, I had spent $60 last weekend...went to fill up today and petrol was roughly $45ish so got a gift card as well, but the staff member had to put it through as 2x seperate transactions. So technically haven't qualified....but curious re your experience and maybe it will trigger nonetheless

It's was on the Explorer card and I got the refund after four days.

Just waiting for Dr Ralph to post at 1 min past midnight that Shop Small is open for business.

Click Frenzy promo coming soon.
I thought it was funny (or strange) that I have never shopped at any of those businesses. In fact I have never heard of some of those business.

Guess I am not their target market.

Two issues with the AMEX promotions:

  1. Shop small - all the blurb about it does not match the map you need to use to find businesses that participate. Spent over 30 minutes on the phone with AMEX pointing out that with the map only 7% of results (say you put an address that is in the middle of say Randwick's main shopping street) are within 500m the other 93 are up to 8km away.
  2. Max number of 'results' is 100. So even if 35 businesses within 500m are taking part - the default (which you cannot change) only lists 7. Only by zooming the map to max do you get a significant number within the local area - but even them it cuts the results down.
  3. Spending an hour playing with it - setting different filter combinations and zoom in magnification - I ended up finding around 40 businesses - very different to what the app naturally does.
  4. Why is there not the ability to get a list (by say postcode) or show all within a certain distance (as it uses geo-location)?
  5. Have rung and asked for feedback/contact about these issues for two years now - never had any follow-up.

and the other...
  1. Local champion - trying to register for local Coles. App on both a Samsung and iPhone will not show any Coles but two (in default list that comes up on first opening) that are the other side of Sydney.
  2. Try searching for it on the map, or any of the 5 nearest Coles or W and none exist.
  3. Two teenage children chastised me for 'lack of knowledge'. Different response from each of them after they spent 30 fruitless minutes.
  4. Called AMEX - rep unable to access the app or anything to do with it. "It should work" - Yes it sure should.

Any suggestions?

Today I've used the 'map' DrRalph provided about a week ago. Removes all of the problems you have listed.

Looked back to mid Oct and could not find a link to a map from DrRalph.

Found links to register (already done for Shop Small - no issues) but no map link - can you tell me where exactly you got a "map" link from DrRalph?

I assume this is what Betty is referring to:

AMEX NSW output

This is the link I provided (taken from ozbargain) within the last 10 days. It may have been posted on another thread though.
