New Amex statement credits

anyone think it would be possible to split 4X300 payments on different Amex cards at HN and buy something valued at $1,200?

You just make it part of the haggling process. Never had a sale knocked back on account of splitting payment although doing 12 $100 prepaid Coles MCs may push one's luck....

Wasn't going to register my Charge for Shop Small as was trying to keep it for business expenses only. However the HN offer made me rethink.
A little surprised to see that registration was still open-obviously not all cardholders are registering 5+ cards at a time

This turned up in an email from Big W. Unfortunately Big W are not participating in Shop Small!

LOL - I registered the Mrs's & my 8 cards pronto this morning.
Yeah, it's a cracker of a deal. I've been thinking of buying an iPhone when going overseas later this year (TRS). With the TRS & 4 x Harvey Norman credits, a savings of approx $500 should be possible on a $1200 phone. :-O

No prepaid VISA or Mastercards available at the Harvey Norman store I visited today at Campbelltown (NSW).

The Ts & Cs explicitly exclude purchases of Apple products (among a bunch of other brands):

'Excludes purchases of Miele, Falcon, NEFF, AEG, Gaggenau, ASKO, St George, fa_or, De Detrich, Elica & Apple products.'

Though as always, Amex don't have any way of knowing what you have bought, so would think you are fine. In any case, please do share your experience if you proceed, as I'm thinking of doing something similar (without the TRS bit though).

Thanks. Nearly bought an iPhone at HN today but they dint have stock. Probably won't take the chance now-and they seem cheaper elsewhere anyway

Buy gift cards first. Get the cash back. Then use gift cards to buy your phone.

We think alike. Will need to take Mrs andye along too.She mostly understands the game (what she sees anyway). She doesn't like the phone calls opening and closing credit cards though

After my practice run last week I put practice to work yesterday splitting a $60 chemist bill across 3 cards, then across the road for a half price lunch at the deli.

Couldn't buy any pre paid credit cards at Harvey Norman but I did purchase 6 x $50 Event Cinema gift cards instead.

Received email instantly.

But just in case anyone is thinking of making same purchase I did take all of the cards that were at Campbelltown and when I have checked online to make sure that the cards were activated correctly they are displaying 'card not sold'. It may take 24 hours for cards to activate, but if they aren't activated by tomorrow I will be returning them.

UPDATE: 24 hours later all cards showing the correct balance. A whole lot of cheap visits to the movies coming up in the next 12 months :)

Woohoo on the HN offer and great timing as I just today received my new ANZ Black Amex, and an Explorer Sup Amex for wife off mine and will get another supp Edge probably tomorrow. With my Edge, Explorer and wife's Edge, NAB Amex and Westpac Black Amex already all added this should be a nice haul.

I have a HN very nearby and so have already put through a $200 gift card and $118 purchase (Birthday present for daughter) to test out that the Gift Card works for the $100 back. unfortunately thy do not have any cards but the HN for sale at this store (Holmesglen).
