New Amex statement credits

Has anyone tried buying the online Harvey Norman gift cards? I actually need something from them and it seems easier than splitting the purchase over 7 cards.

Anyone know why HarveyNorman.com.au doesn't seem to be listing Bose QC35's?

Been eyeing them off and figure this could be a great use of the promotion.

You'd still need to buy 7 online giftcards, so why's that easier than having the checkout ppl do all the work?

EDIT: plenty of confirmations on Ozbargain of online giftcards triggering the email (and presumably the credit)

Yes, thanks for posting the HN offer!

I haven't bought anything from HN for many years, but have been looking for ages for a stick vacuum rather than the heavy old corded one that I have to drag around. A friend highly recommended the Bosch one she has (and she's had no problem with it scratching wooden floors, which can be a problem with these type of vacuums and the heads they use), seems only HN sells it in WA. Hang on a minute, didn't someone mention a HN offer on Amex??? ... rushes off to check the thread ... Yay, the HN offer appears on my Amex Connect account, so all registered and ready to go!!
 
HN offer is going work out a treat for me. One day sale today brings a new TV down to $1579 and I have 5 cards to split the cost over. Pretty much max discount and a new 55" TV for less than 50% RRP.

Anyone got a manual link for the Apple offer. Going to spend it anyone so they are just bonus points to me.
 
So why not use more than amex to buy a Visa GC in an amount greater than $300? Could you put say $900 on the one card, initiating just one activation fee? If there is a $500 limit then load 2 or more cards to achieve same thing. Less costly than the Mastercard scenario.

If going down the vpay route on the HN offer, why does it require a Coles prepaid reloadable MasterCard? If you can transfer money to that MasterCard, why couldn't you transfer to say a bank account or other debit card like the Citi etc.

The link says using vpay saves $0.45 compared to the prepaid Visa GC - why not simply get a prepaid visa GC and withdraw cash from an atm?

When you load up your new coles mastercard you can do the initial transfer by credit card. So its like paying a bill.

Points earn is 1 for $2 spend.

Ta, and I know that we are off topic here from the Amex Deal, but I meant by the original Credit Card loading the MC.
I think it cannot be an Amex? Just MC or VISA? So is at the earn rate of whatever your card is. And the you earn 0.5 Flybuys per $

Just was hoping someone could shed a bit more light on the HN offer // oz bargain discussion/plan...

The Vpay GC voucher....is this just a HN gift card purchased instore??? or is this something more specific?
The logic/theory of this plan is to effectively trigger the offer, yet only effectively spend the voucher fee of $5.50

Is that correct?

No. VPAY is not HN gift card. VPAY is a virtual visa card, it has 16 digit number, expiry and VVC. You can use this VPAY to pay online bills ( there is no physical card ), such as ATO, water, strata, council, you name it.

You'll see this discussed extensively above, but you are buying a $300 Vpay VISA card that you can use anywhere online to buy anything you want - including a prepaid credit card/gift card.
