New Amex statement credits

New statement credits

Good one at the moment for people wanting to book hotels:
Hotelclub spend $200 get $40 back.

Thanks for this. I have recently booked 3 nights in Canberra through Hotelclub for early May.
I wonder if I would receive 2 credits if payment was split across 2 registered cads?

I have done this on other offers and it always works.

How do you split payment for one booking with Hotel Club?

I was going to pay at hotel reception with 2 separate cards. There is the option when booking Hotelclub to "pay now" online or to pay later at the hotel.

Right now I am having trouble getting the "Register Now" link to work. :(

But will you get the credit if you pay at the hotel? I daresay the credit in part is based on the merchant name.

Yes. Same as any Amex credit, paid when the payment goes onto your account. I think you are confusing the Hotelclub booking with the Amex offer. Hotelclub don't care if you pay cash or CC as long as the booking has originated through their search engine.

I seem to be having problems registering my card for the hotelclub offer :(

It doesn't show up in my offers when I complete the registering process.

Same here for my Amex amex. When I login under my Amex account and click Enrol Now I get redirected to my Amex main page, but no offer.

Works for my Westpac amex.

I received an email confirming my registration. Did you get an email?
No email here.

I have saved 5 offers to my Westpac card successfully, but no email for any of them. The new system of saving to the card for bank issued cards is much better than having to type in the details every time, so thumbs up for that change.

blackcat are you lost in space? Back to the champagne thread with you.

It is an amex offer

Jeffrey, I have just finished speaking with an Amex rep who indicated that they may be having site difficulties today. He registered my cards (the supplementary card as well) and I received a confirmation email shortly after.

I reckon the hotel club one will only work if the merchant is hotel club. If you pay at the hotel it will be a battle. To split into 2 cards, book as 2 stays.

Hotelclub know when the booking completes as they add the nights to your running tally so they can offer the free stay after 10 nights. There is no requirement to pay at the time of booking for this to register as they provide the option to pay now or at checkout. When Amex notice the hotelclub activity on your statement they should pay the statement credit as they normally do. I would think they would be unaware how many nights you may have stayed nor if you had one or two bookings, only that you have met the minimum $200 spend with the merchant. We have seen previously with the shop local promotion AFF members successfully splitting a dinner bill between cards.

I will let you know how I go after the stay.
