New Amex statement credits

I hate shopping at Hardly Normal, everything from Gerrys coughpy ads "SMAAAALL BUSINESS, Thanks Guvment" to the commission based staff pushing for sales, but needed a new coffee machine and a sandwich press so activated the $300/$50 back offer and had the missus hound them to price match JB on both items. Ended up being 10% saving so happy with that.

Unfortunately i didnt get my way and ended up with another nespresso machine, horrible pods imo.

Just checked my AMEX account and have 4 new offers;

Harris Farm Online - $50 credit for $100 spend
Vintage Cellars - $15 credit for $100 spend (Coles gift cards?)
Expedia Hotels - $50 credit for $500 spend
Netflix - $17.98 credit for $17.98 spend!

Harris Farm very generous but it is online only.

Theyre more than welcome to spam me for $50, gmail tends to filter fairly well :D
Actually I have genuinely used Harris Farm Online a couple of times, albeit only when they have had discount offers on so I really am not that concerned with spam. I've registered 5 cards for this offer!

I'm thinking of upgrading my commbank cards to the minimum rewards card to have more opportunities for some of these deals. Wouldn't use it for any other spend though given the earn rate

Do you think that will work as gift cards are excluded in the T&Cs?

I am expecting it to work. Generally the T&Cs do not match how the IT systems process the transaction. The recent Liquorland worked with gift cards and so did the Vintage Cellars offer around this time last year. I will give it a go with a gift card in the next couple of days and report back.

It has worked in the past so can't see anything changing now.

Question regarding the recent HotelClub statement credit? When did that expire? I booked accommodation worth ~$201 on 13 June and received a statement credit of $40 as expected. Cancelled the booking on 26 June and received a credit for ~$201 and on 27 June a $40 charge to take back the statement credit. Fair enough they took back their $40.00 they paid earlier in month.

One 26 June I have a charge of ~$218 to HotelClub for new hotel booking. Should I expect the $40 statement credit or have I stuffed myself because I used the offer once?

Not the end of the world as I saved myself a few dollars on original booking. The $40 statement would make the saving even sweeter.

The offer finished on June 14. I have often wondered what would happen in a buy - cancel - rebuy scenario regarding an Amex credit but reckon that it is fair enough that you only get one go at it.

It does work. I've just bought a $100 Coles/Myer gift card and I received the email confirming the spend and credit before I had even left the store.

I won't bother with a gift card as I need to top up my single malts anyway. Don't forget they should price match competition.;)

Well walked into liquorland Flybuys and $100 GC.
Walked then into Vintage Cellars, no Flybuys, $100 GC.
Two emails $15 credit on each..... Very happy!
