New Amex statement credits

You'd think someone was creating these promotions especially for AFFers. ;)

Could be. Get the points collectors into a feeding frenzy and then they tell everyone about the deals. hose who sadly don't know the joys of points collecting will hopefully join the fold and AMEX wins with more cards tapping and chip reading.

Or, they are redirecting the funds they've saved buying FF points, delivering the loyaty bonus direct to their customers ... stimulating revenue for themselves rather than airlines.

My guess, you'll see WOW do the same thing very soon.

If you want to provide an incentive just to use an Amex card, then cashback is easier. It would be too hard with the multiple reward programs and issuers to deal with, Simpler just to encourage Amex use this way.

How can you do this, I thought Wish cards had to be bought at a manned service because they don't have a value and the operator has to enter.
I've only ever done this with other items to buy but don't see why it wouldn't work just buying the card Am in Sydney Metro.

Scan card. Screen says put to one side. When finished scanning all items, call assistant over to credit the WISH card. They leave you to pay how you like. Once paid, the screen on the EFTPOS console then prompts to activate the card. Either you or the assistant then swipe the magstripe. Get activation receipt. All done.

Oh. And pay how you like includes physical WISH cards and egift cards. Can consolidate balances this way.

I used 2 bank cards yesterday. The first at 7/11 got an immediate email response, the 2nd at WOW did not elicit an email.

Had something similar happen yesterday with my son's Amex PE card, which is an additional card on my account. He was going to Erindale to put $50 worth of fuel (using his own money) in his ute, so I said do this....

  • Go to 7-Eleven and put exactly $15 worth in, on the Amex.
  • Go to Woolies and buy a $50 Wish gift card, on the Amex.
  • Go to Woolies Petrol and put the gift card in.
  • Give me $50. :)

(At Erindale, 7-Eleven, Woolies and Woolies Petrol are all within a stone's throw of each other.)

Got the "Congratulations....." e-mail for 7-Eleven, but none for Woolies. I expect that the credit will still appear in due course, though. Much the same happened with one of the $100 gift cards that I bought from Liquorland a few weeks ago.

Yesterday at 2.19 used 2 Amex at WOW - no emails. At 3.29 used same 2 Amex at 7/11 and had both emails within 30 secs. All transactions were paywave. Pretty certain all credits will come through as they have never failed in the past.

Also used one of the cards at Coles at 3.07 - no email .... oh wait, no offer. Come on Coles join the party!

All my $30 Amex spend on Wish Gift cards at WoW triggered the $10 cashback despite the lack of emails:)

All credits for WOW and 7/11 from Monday have now posted. Further evidence that not receiving a 'Congratulations' email from AMEX is neither here nor there.

I spent $201.11 with HotelClub for 4 nights accommodation and received email within minutes from Amex. Too easy.
