New Amex statement credits

Just to take your mind off crashing stock markets or Covid-19 for a few minutes at least, Amex Delicious Month Out - spend $60 get $20 back - use 2 times. Possibly Sydney only.

definitely sydney onlyo_O
us melbournites are used to being second fiddle to sydney by amex, but at least we get some attention unlike other major cities

Trying to make use of the Amex Travel offer - on one card have 100 / 25 AND 200 / 50.

I want to book a cancellable rate at a hotel (in case I have to end up cancelling) and want to know if Amex charges when you book or waits until you have passed the non-cancellable date. The Amex credits offer expires on Feb 27.

Just following up on this - Amex Travel charges instantly regardless of the type of rate. Had the Amex credit emails before the confirmation from Amex Travel for the hotel booking. If rate is refundable and you want to cancel you have to ring up Amex Travel and a consultant will read through the t&c of the booking before manually making refund. How very quaint! I hope I don't need to cancel but made a screen print of cancellation t&c because not listed anywhere in the Amex Travel email confirmation which is poor form in my book.

That's not been my experience. I booked a cancelable rate and there was no charge at the time of booking. I did have the fun experience of having to call to cancel.

Well I can assure you that I have been charged! I actually rang Amex Travel first to find out if they would charge. They assured me they would and they did.

I wasn't implying that your case didn't happen. Sorry if it came across like that.

My point really was that it doesn't happen all the time. So if someone was relying on that to always happen for a credit back on their account, they might run into a different experience.

My booking was a FHR hotel. I wonder if perhaps that leads to a different way of charging?

I've usually found with FHR bookings that the hotel charges you on check out. I think sometimes you get the option to prepay it through AmEx Travel but usually it's on check out.

Pretty sure those are the standard terms of FHR. It's basically the flexible rack rate, but you get the privileges and additional room credit.

Managed to double dip with the current Round of offers.

Sydney delicious month, spend $60 get $20
And rockpool dining group spend $100 get $20 on the same card

Indeed - get in quick Rockpool offer finishes Tuesday.
Didn't get delicious offer on my supps though, only on the main card.

Did get rockpool on the supps, great saving to be had at dinner tonight

I had to ring Amex Travel on another matter today and asked them about this. Amex Travel confirmed that FHR hotels are not charged but all other types of booked hotels are charged immediately by Amex Travel.
