New Amex statement credits

trap for young/new players (IE me).. booked a trip on my reserve card with extra check-in luggage which is what made it ~$300 ($200 + $45 + $45). However virgin billed the baggage as separate transactions so no credit for me... gaah :(

It does say one or more transactions

Edit: beaten to it

What's the merchant name for the baggage transactions? If it's the same, you might be lucky:

Exactly the same merchant name..
I got the offer on another card which I used to book a $300 + $45 + $45 airfare on the same day and that credit has already posted..

Will need to chase up with Amex then thanks for pointing that out 👍

Does the offer say redeemed in the app? If so the credit will soon follow.

Spend $400 or more, get $100 back
mycar tyre and auto (formerly Kmart tyre and auto)
Seems to be targeted, my Platinum Edge cards all seemed to have it, however none of my Explorer cards got it.

Mrs NoName received this on the DJs AMEX. I missed out on my Platinun DJs Amex.
Will come in handy as we need to service one of our cards soon anyway.

showed up on my edge and not explorer for me

off to check if my car needs a service or new tyres

knowing my luck, the car will break down the day after it expires

Only the $300 says redeemed and credit has posted.
The $200+45+45 nothing
I paid ~$190 (for the base fare) + $35 + $35 (Economy X seat selections) and no email came through at time of payment. Today I checked my list of transactions and this is what I see:

So looks like everything on top of the base fare is classed as an "add-on" transaction.
Furthermore, the offer is not showing "Redeemed" in the app - it's going to be a nervous wait for the next few days.

Are you sure they are all on the same card. It seems the $70 was charged to a supplementary card? (Correct me if I am wrong)

I booked a Virgin ticket - it billed as 2 transactions one for the fare and the other for the credit card fee both to VA Winton. No email but a couple of days later app showed redeemed and then the following day received credit.

The odd thing about yours is the AM - this usually indicates supp card spending. As I am sue you know cards are registered individually for each Amex credit offer. Did you pay with two different cards?

Sorry, you're right - it's the way they ordered the transactions. I used my primary card to make a single booking for myself, and a supplementary to book the same flight itinerary for my wife:

Unfortunately this means we're on separate tickets with separate PNRs, but given it's a short hop over to LST from MEL I don't think it should be an issue (fingers crossed).

Yeah mine is the same layout.. Let's see what happens in a few days

Edit: and now the other also says redeemed happy days

Trying to make use of the Amex Travel offer - on one card have 100 / 25 AND 200 / 50.

I want to book a cancellable rate at a hotel (in case I have to end up cancelling) and want to know if Amex charges when you book or waits until you have passed the non-cancellable date. The Amex credits offer expires on Feb 27.

I got the "you've used your Amex Offer" emails immediately upon booking. Even before the booking confirmation in fact. Credits came through a few days later.

I don't think it matters if the rate is cancellable but my rates were not cancellable.

Keep in mind that if you cancel the booking and it gets refunded to that card it'll probably cancel the statement credit as well. At least, that's what the rules say, not sure if it actually happens in practice though.

That's fair enough in my view. I just want to know if they will charge me as soon as I book. If no-one knows then I will just have to try it out.
