New Amex statement credits

I got $450 on travel or HN as I had charge TC of $450 expiring in Nov 2021
and my $450 platinum TC has disappeared

My reserve TC is still there, as its valid till May 2022.
My charge TC would've expired next month in Nov.

There's some speculation over on OzBargain that it's being offered to anyone who has a travel credit expiring before the end of the year.

Not the case with our TC, all expire next year.

I got $400 on my Reserve and +1 on her Explorer.

You have a free reserve card? I thought it cost around 400 pa.

Used to be free to Plat Charge holders, not sure if still is.

Received on my Explorer.

Anyone willing to buy something at Harvey Norman to see if it actually works there or whether just a mistake? I would love a $400 gift card instead of making a travel booking.

My travel credit expiry date was recently so it may well be a way of compensating for unused ones. I'm fairly sure I didn't use it last year

Why would you think its a mistake?

Ok, just got off chat with an agent online and says this offer will be available to all AmEx cardholders. He said he can see the offer on my account and I just need to accept/save it. But I can't see it on my offer page. He ensures me it will become available in the next few days and an email will be sent too.

Fingers crossed. As much as I don't usually buy stuff from HN, it is better in my circumstances to take up the offer before it expires in March/April next year.

I can't see it yet, but it would actually be worthwhile for me. My TV is in the process of dying right now and I was planning on buying a new one next week, so if it does come through it'll be perfect timing.

HN also sell GCs from other companies. I have seen Luxury Escapes GCs when visiting (which I do as infrequently as possible as HN are my least favourite retailer by a country mile).

If it comes up on all my cards I'll be a very happy bunny but suspect one per account at best

Received this one on my QF Ultimate card. My $450 flight credit was due to expire on 23 Oct. I used it a few weeks ago to book a QF flight through Amex travel.

Now I don't see anything that says this offer is a replacement for the regular $450 flight credit. What's everyone else's reading of this?

I got the following email for my Edge:

Like it much better than the travel credit. Shame used all the others for non-refundable VA flights and that money is now stuck in their travel Bank with an expiry of May 2022. Hope they can make this an option for other TC's. The other one I will get is for my Reserve card assuming that existing members keep receiving the credit as well as the no AF :)

I don't get this offer. If I read the T&C, it says you can spend on Amex travel as well, and get a credit back to $450. Does that mean I forgo the travel credit, or is this apart from that? It's not really clear. BTW, I already spent the $450 credit. I only have the $400 one from the reserve.

EDIT: $400 travel credit is gone :(

I got the following email for my Edge:
This probably should have gone out before the offer appeared for all cardholders, it sounds like people have been unwittingly trading their travel credit for statement credits? It's unlikely many will be upset given the lack of travel opportunities around but you'd think it would be a bit more transparent given it would be quite easy to mistake this as a statement credit on top of the travel credit and you are still trading something of value, even if it is for something that is probably more usefuli in the current climate.

Watching with interest as my QF Ultimate credit expires Feb 2022 and I certainly haven't had either the email or the offer, seems very ad hoc at the moment.

I'm not convinced this is the case though. I received a the $450 statement credit offer to use on QF products. I've already used my travel credit. I should get a new one on 24th October 2021 though. Nothing in this offer says it's a replacement for a future travel credit and seems available to me even though I've already used my travel credit.

I'd be interested if you can see anything in the T&Cs that contradict this?
