New Amex statement credits

I just got this email below. As mentioned above I got the $400 HN / online travel credit offer and saved it....but I had already used my September 2021 expiring $400 travel credit....so what does this mean? Will I still get $400 credit for spending $400 at HN??

"We have added another option to redeem your 2021 $400 Travel Credit

With the current uncertainty around travel for many of our Card Members, we have enhanced how you can use your Travel Credit this year.

As well as being able to use your Travel Credit to book travel with American Express Travel Online, you can now also use it to shop online or instore at Harvey Norman until 31st December 2021.*

To take advantage of the flexibility of this updated benefit, simply click the button below and save to your eligible Card. Once you've saved this to your Card, a credit of up to $400 will be automatically applied when you spend up to $400 in one or more transactions with your Card ending 31000 at either American Express Travel Online and/or Harvey Norman on or before 31st December 2021. You’ll collect a credit for each purchase you make, until you reach $400. Exclusions apply.

Save to Card

Eligible Card Members must have an unused American Express Travel Credit with an expiry of 1 July 2021 - 31 December 2021."

I'd be interested if you can see anything in the T&Cs that contradict this?
Not at all, however two posts preceding mine either had communications from AMEX suggesting it was a travel credit replacement or had confirmed that it had resulted in a loss of TC in one instance, so it is still somewhat shambolic communications from AMEX but perhaps not the same rule for all. I just find it extremely confusing and I can't be the only one - it seems that people with different TC expiry dates (2021 and 2022) are seeing the offer whereas others expiring around the same time are not, and some are being told or seeing it result in the TC being removed afterwards whereas others like yourself aren't.

Nothing for me on my plat charge or reserve. Hmm. Used my travel credits ages ago.

Edit: no email either

Received this one on my QF Ultimate card. My $450 flight credit was due to expire on 23 Oct. I used it a few weeks ago to book a QF flight through Amex travel.

Now I don't see anything that says this offer is a replacement for the regular $450 flight credit. What's everyone else's reading of this?

To muddy the waters further, I had a closer look at the email. The email seems to indicate that this offer is a replacement for the travel credit and you must have an unused travel credit with an expiry date as highlighted. This makes sense with the intent. However if you just use what's on the website reads very differently.

I'm tempted to buy some wine before my roll over date of 23rd October and see what happens. Worst case scenario I just sent the wine back. Question is, can I actually be bothered.

I have a credit expiring 13/01/22, but haven't got the offer

My post above probably explains why.

Likewise, $450 HN offer received - but the Travel credit was recently used.

I suspect that perhaps the offer was targeted for all those with unused Travel credits due to expire during the period, but there is a bit of a timing issue in what they have done.

1. Some weeks ago, trawled through and found all the unused Travel credits for the period, and made the list of who would be eligible.
2. Worked out how much they may potentially be up for, and negotiated with the various affiliates (Qantas, HN) - factoring in who may not use the offer etc.
3. Finalised who got what offer - can't see much obvious correlation, as there seems to be a wide mix reported.
4. Loaded offers to cards
5. Ran another job to remove all unexpired Travel Credits for the period (probably not using he list from point 1, but even if it did, no doubt accepting that some would not be able to be removed because they had been redeemed).
6. Sent emails.

If you managed to redeem your Travel Credit in the time between points 1 and 5, you are effectively getting a double dip. Win!

But...but it's inconsistent and not fair 😉

Is the Harvey Norman offer available to everyone, I haven‘t received anything yet.
People seem to have concluded it's in lieu of an Amex travel credit expiring in the second half of 2021. If you used yours already or it expires later (like all of mine), I think you're out of luck.

Just received an email offer for 20x points / $1 spend up to 5000 pts (or $250) at Freedom, Miele, The Good Guys and Winning Appliances (in-store or online).

Funny thing is it’s a “Reward yourself by making home improvements” offer but its on my Business Rewards card.

The offer doesn’t appear in the “offers” section but there’s a register for offer link in the email. First 2500 customers.

$400 travel credit is gone :(

Same here.

I have a Reserve + Edge + gold charge = $395 package discount for life thing going on. So I have 3 cards (I'm the primary cardholder for all of them).

I had a $400 travel credit from Reserve, due to expire Oct this year / which is this month, and I used it just before the Delta lock down.
So I was left with a $200 travel credit from Edge, due to expire Nov this year.

I logged into AmEx and I did see this $200 travel credit earlier in the week, cos I was thinking of using it as NSW was coming out of lock down.

Then I got the e-mail about Hardly Normal, as a replacement for $200 travel credit.

I never clicked / saved that promotion, because I don't want to buy anything from Hardly Normal.

Now I just logged into AmEx internet banking, went into travel section, and noticed 2 things:
  1. My $200 Edge credit credit had disappeared, which was here earlier in the week;
  2. I could go to top right corner and select between Reserve and Edge and gold charge previously, to control the card I would be using to pay for the booking. The only card available now is the gold charge, the other two cards had completely disappeared?!
I have no idea what's going on?!

Well, I used my $400 travel credit early, so I didn't get this Hardly Normal $400 credit. I only got a HN credit of $200 for my travel credit of $200 which is / was unused.

So maybe you have fallen through their gap due to timing issue?

Very strange....got an email saying I had just used my $400 travel / HN credit....the only thing I bought today was >$400 wine from the Qantas Wine store. Let's see what happens next!

HN also sell GCs from other companies. I have seen Luxury Escapes GCs when visiting (which I do as infrequently as possible as HN are my least favourite retailer by a country mile).
Has anyone got the statement credit for gift cards at harvey norman?
the terms of my offer say:

Credit is not redeemable for cash or other payment form

Personally, the travel credit was going to expire for me, so Gerry's is a viable option. I need to pick up a couple of small items, which might be cheaper elsewhere. But this offer basically makes them free for me, even if Harvey N is expensive.

Edit: BTW my go to gift cards at apple (pays for 2TB online storage), netflix and stan. All very boringly practical, and i like free or discounted on my base operating costs.
