New Amex statement credits

I got it as well and can buy for you?
Thanks! :) But I'm good; I do have a plentiful supply of Aesop at home (all those cashback offers from Adore Beauty and Myer) and would only buy more if I benefited from it like 1500 bonus points haha. Guess DJs Amex isn't gonna have that Statement Credit offer with Aesop jumping ship from them to Myer ...

Is there an easy way to book at a Hilton directly over the phone to trigger the statement credit - I have a stay coming up about a month after it expires and the terms say it is only for in person over the counter payments. When I call the Hilton hotel (ADL) direct to book, it transfers me to their global booking / reservations team. Anyone have a workaround?

I noticed the ToC says it's for in person purchase only too, and I even checked with Amex via online chat confirming that is the case. Obviously this is very silly and I wonder how many people were actually discouraged from booking because of this.

Anyway, I decided to book it online anyway (I think I booked it through the Hilton app actually). I booked a non-refundable rate a few weeks in advance, and was charged a couple of days ahead of my hotel stay. The amount was just shy of $400 ($397), but I made sure I bought a drink at the hotel to make it to above $400.

Interestingly though the $80 rebate seemed to be credited on the same day as the initial $397 charge, rather than after I bought the drink at the hotel a few days later.

YMMV, but hopefully my data point helps.

Last time I did this, I booked online then rang to pay. From memory they sent me an authorisation form.

Not quite a statement credit but Amex email says get a free bottle of Moet for $250/$450 spend (depending on the venue) for bookings of 4 or more at (the SYD-centric) Merivale venues.
