New Amex statement credits

Re: The VA spend 675 get 200 credit. I just made a booking but am in the US and didn't realise the Velocity website defaulted to the US. The pending charge has come through as Virgin Australia - NZ - Direct

Anyone care to guess whether this will be valid? I'm guessing not, and that I'm going to cop 3.5% as well as a currency fee if the NZ billing sticks. Very, very annoyed.

Edit: Got my cards mixed up, charge definitely in AUD so I should be safe from the currency fee. Question is if the billing changes from VA-NZ direct to the Australian merchant of Winton, I guess. If it doesn't, I can't imagine the $450 will count toward triggering the credit.

I made three bookings yesterday, all domestic AU flights priced in AUD, and all have Virgin Australia - NZ - Direct (plus each airfare has a separate line for the card fee, with the exact same narrative) in the transaction listing for my online statement. But they're still pending, so whether they are going to register for the Amex Offer is TBD.

OK that's promising. I am almost sure I've had the same, but thuoght I was being overly optimistic...I wonder if it's a weird quirk of how the merchant is set up as when I go in to the details it does give the location as "4006 New Zealand"

But there is no such postcode in NZ apparently, and coincidentally 4006 is Bowen Hills in QLD (ex Virgin Village). So I am more confident than I was with your info as well. Thanks!

I expect the narrative for these Virgin bookings will change to VIRGIN AUSTRALIA 994010 WINTON when they move from pending to confirmed.

I had registered for IHG offer of spend $350 and get $75 statement credit. Stayed a weekend at one of the listed participating properties and just after check-in received the email saying I had just used the offer. But it seems that was triggered by the "pending/hold" value placed on the card, which of course never converts into the actual processed payment. The real payment was processed upon check-out, but the pending/hold amount was not removed until the following day.

It looks like because the pending/hold transaction had triggered the statement credit conditions, but then been cancelled, the credit was also cancelled. And because the actual payment was triggered after the pending/hold transaction and before the statement credit was processed, it did not trigger for the actual payment.

So I initiated an on-line chat session and have been assured that I met the criteria and a manual processing has been initiated on my account which may take 3-5 business days. I will keep an eye on the account to ensure I receive the $75 credit.

Having been through this on a few occasions (with Avis, with Hilton, etc), it sorts itself out in the end. The credit does get paid once the final payments are processed.

My final payment has been showing on my statement for more than the stated 5 business days, which is why I made enquiries.

No Chemist Warehouse on my Explorer but there's $350/75 at something called Orlebar Brown. Don't even know what that is but something tells me that it's of no use to me.

I got chemist w on my edge and b iz but not on reserve or plat.
also has anyone used multiple laithwaites on one order??

Yep, bought a La Grande Dame that triggered two amex offers at once. Plus a 20% cashrewards :p

Laithwaites obviously was onto it as they called to ask about the order. They then delivered a NV Rose … sigh … but eventually it all worked out. Sub $200 for LGD was nice.

but don't you have to call them to use the different credit cards? or can it be done online
also are there any discount promo codes?
do I have to buy gift cards first?

Cashback is capped at $30 per member per day.
Cashback is ineligible if using codes not listed on Cashrewards.
This cashback offering may not be used in conjunction with any credit card cash back scheme.
Purchases deemed to be wholesale are ineligible for cashback.

I'm fairly positive Discover Cars sell your credit card info, last year I've made a booking on their website with my 28 Degrees card which I barely use, then about 6 weeks later I had unauthorised charges pop up. Thought it was a coincidence until it happened again when I booked once more through them this year.

I barely use the card and all transactions on either side of the bookings were through stores I have used regularly. Could be a mad coincidence, who knows, but I've never had unauthorised charges on any of my cards apart from these.

With the $200 local dining credit, it resets each calendar year right? I just signed up to platinum.
Does this mean I can use $200 this year and then $200 again in 2023?
