New Amex statement credits

Same here too. Would like to know for Hilton Cairns whether I can prepay over the phone and will meet the T&C requirement as "pay at hotel"
I'm hoping for a Hilton solution still,

I did use my IHG credits by buying gift vouchers at the crowne in Terrigal to make up my difference. I will be back in Jan to use them anyway.

2. I have a stay booked at the Hilton in Tokyo in Oct, does anyone know if it's possible to have the hotel charge a fixed amount to pre-pay upto the value of the min spend amount. I want to do this on 2 cards, so would be great to know if possible and what the process is.

I tried to prepay a flexible booking at a Hilton in Japan and they refused to do it.

Prepaid bookings at Hiltons in Japan are processed by the property itself rather than the Hilton website, so you might consider separating the single booking into two prepaid bookings to trigger the offer. Otherwise you could ask about spliting the payment across multiple cards at check-in.

make sure u do at checkin I told cairns I was using 2 cards and they put all the money to one card on the checkout day It took some convincing to get them to refund but I stood my ground and the girl remembered me asking.

ahh damn, unfortunately the flexible rate i have is 14000 yen cheaper than the advance price. Kills the benefit and by check in the offer will have expired unfortunately.

May have to let this one pass.

I have done advanced purchase bookings for Australian Hiltons and you usually get charged hours or days after. The name of the transaction is the hotel name itself, exactly the same as flexible bookings, so it should still work.

Worked on the Surpass when the $50 USD credits were introduced.

It's back for August. Not sure if I should be excited or prepare myself to be underwhelmed.....

Looks like SS maybe for primary cards only. There was a message about it in the offers but only on my primaries.

I think Amex has achieved their objective - to get us using our Amex cards for everything possible so they don’t need to bribe us with $10 credits to do so. They don’t need to do so anymore and whether or not the media says so, we’re in a recession so everyone cuts back. Why should Amex be any different?

Speaking for myself, I use my Amex almost everywhere. The occasions where I need my backup non Amex card is very rare. I’m sure most of us can get by with it as the only card we carry if we had to. That likely wasn’t the case 10 years ago when all of this wild promotion started to happen. YMMV.

Sadly now promos are mainly for shoes… I have enough already!
