A bit OT but thought this thread most likely to know-how do Velocity points get counted for BP giftcards? ie paid for $ spend at purchase or paid for per litre spend at redemption or :)both or neither

T&Cs say not earned on giftcards-but is this true in practice?

Yes unfortunately so far. 7 transactions and only points as advertised.

But $70 buying petrol effectively at near enough to 25% off AND some velocity points for the petrol and Velocity points from velocity Amex cards - cannot complain.

xx_ If they do not know tell them it is in the 2nd BP manual about 3/4 of the way through. Last weekend at Kingsford BP the staff did not know so it took a while. Meantime, they would ask every customer if they had a velocity card. 7 out of 8 did not. 7 out of 8 were happy for my card to be swiped. :):)

SORRY slightly OT but today had 2x regos to do. Used up another 5 pre-paid Coles MCs so effectively I've got full value for the Amex Veleocity card purchase (at discount offer) for a Govt payment. Shame RMS only let you split it 3 ways (which the very nice RMS person discovered too late) so supervisor had to work her magic - so actually split 4 ways on one and 3 on the other.

Now wondering about trying to prepay utility accounts using them...

Oh, I see what you did there. Do you buy the Coles pre-paid MC's at the checkout?
I'll have you know I am local champion at my local Coles. ;)

Coles MCs not viable without the (expired) Mothers Day offer even with Local Champ IMO
Suspect RAM still has a stash. Have used mine all up paying AGL, HCF, Canberra and a few Amex refuseniks

Yes.

I did not think to register for that. Live and learn.

The stash is significantly smaller than it was - I think I should have done 2x to 3x the number.

The dream is for a combination prepaid Coles MC offer combined with a Flight Centre offer paid for using discounted egcs purchased with AMEX - I can but hope.

But at least I can build very durable card houses now! Amazing how high you can go with the plastic gcs instead of playing cards...

Can you buy these pre-paid mastercards at checkout? Pay with Amex?

edit: Just saw you answered yes.
I cannot believe I never cottoned onto this. So I can pay all my rates, NRMA, RTA, etc fee free, effectively with Amex.

I think what they mean is, to buy it and pay the $5 card fee or so for $100 worth of prepaid m/c is NOT worth it.
It was worth doing during the mothers day promo, cause the bonus flybuy points offset that $5 card fee

So, I could load the Coles Platinum Prepaid M/C from an AMEX card?

Coles just had a 'special' deal that there's no forex fees till end of 2016 on o/s spend. Not sure if it is available.

Thanks. I'll put my excitement back in the box. :(

Looking at the T&Cs, you can load the card initially from a Visa or M/C to a top value of $1000. The charge is $10. I got it on a free card offer. After the initial load, it looks like it then has to be from a bank account.

I thought the reloadable card could only be bought online with $100 load from MasterCard or Visa then direct debit only for top ups.
Would be great to be able to load them in store.
The gift card can be bought online with non-Amex up to $1000 value for $5 issue fee - isn't free but certainly better than the $50 or $100 denomination cards in store.
Edit: just noticed the top up bit has been already covered. I shouldn't post while watching the news.

Can you share how you can buy $1000 online with non amex card?
My max remains $100

Just looking at my card on line, it can only initially be loaded up to $100 on a cc. The top ups then can be up to $1000 balance from a bank account or debit card only.

If anyone has found a use for this card, plse advise.

No Fly Buys over & above what you'd earn from in store spend. The reloadable has the works including FB on spend with it but bank account recharge - hopefully they can make the economics work for in store recharge with our Amex Edge cards. Guess they don't make as much from the issuing $5 fee as with the $50 & $100 cards in store.
