New Amex statement credits

PSA - check your Langton's offer, for some reason the end date has changed from 12/08 to 19/08 so that gives you an extra week to figure out what to buy.

What's the deal with champagne? Can I buy a good bottle of it and just leave it in the cupboard for a special occasion? I don't have a cellar...

Can you tell I'm not a wine/champagne drinker... :D

Absolutely not - must be cellared correctly - I just happen to have a small amount of space available and more than happy to look after it for you. ;)

Not entirely true. If the temperature doesn't fluctuate where you want to store it, it is okay to keep it there. Just keep it away from bright light, lay the bottle horizontally if you want to store it for the medium- to long-term and make sure it isn't exposed to extreme temperatures.

I registered for the Langtons offer with a view of using it (its 50% off!!), but after much deliberation realised that we probably don't need it and it would be an impulse buy..

If any AFFers missed out (or dont have an Amex) and would like to make the most of the Langtons offer, more than happy to help. Just PM me (and I'm based in Sydney if that helps)

That would depend on how long you intended to keep it for.

I would recommend proper cellaring for the long term with the same expectations for white wine.

Good luck with that strategy. It's not one that I could support. There's a reason that cellars have existed for hundreds of years and that wine fridges have now been developed.

I just tried getting this but received a call from my 'Wine broker" who said i could not use the voucher on line. Only through purchasing through her. have a feeling this will therefore not trigger the $150 :-(

Not sure why it would't.

All that is required is that you use your AMEX card to spend $300 or more with Langtons.

From what I read it said on line only no in store purchases. She specifically said I couldn't use it " on line".

You're right it does say this:

"Save the offer to your Card and spend $300 or more, in one or more transactions, online only at langtons.com.au by 19/8/16 to receive one $150 credit. Limited to the first 5,000 Cards to save the offer."

But I don't believe that you will have a problem placing the order by phone.

Understatement? Like vultures on a dying corpse?
Interesting response JohnnyK - would you say the same about a certain guy who almost broke his fingers tap tappin' away on his keyboard tryin' to send me a PM when I offered up a CX in-flight Duty Free voucher some tome back? Or did that happen to slip your mind?

I believe there's a difference between $50 credit for Platinum card holder and the $150 credit offer. I remember trying to get the $50 credit one and a wine broker from Langtons rang and told me I had to place an order with him over the phone or email and he would arrange the $50 off for me. However, he's never emailed me back with a list of his recommendation so I've never bothered ordering anything from Langtons. As for the $150 credit offer, T&C states that it's only for one or more transactions, only at langtons.com.au

Makes no difference at all. All my orders have been placed over the phone/emails and no issues to date.

Yes the $50 credit from plat Charge card and this cash back are two different things but was hoping to have a crack at getting both. Mini2 I am assuming your saying that you got the $150 cash back on your cards with over the phone orders?

Ive got three cards also with this offer attached. Two edge cards (hubbies and mine) and the charge.

Yes you can combine the two. That $50 credit (...it's not a voucher or coupon) is applied or tacked on by the broker so Amex should have absolute no visibility of that happening unless they make an inquiry akin to a chargeback. Also if the online web sales and their brokers' terminal are using the same merchant account (which they are) then Amex should not be able to determine where the charge originate from other than they're both under card not present.

If you still have concerns about it then don't do it, simples ;)

WRT the HCF offer, I have two cards signed up but I can't find anyone I know that uses HCF.

Has anyone paid the 3 x $1 to a strangers account as per the action on Ozbargain? Seems risky....

Now that we've sobered up following the Langtons deal (credit has hit my account), I thought I'd refresh this.....
