New Amex statement credits

Agreed that with the extra $50 its a good offer. But are there any $50 codes around? They usually close down such generous codes or place restrictions on them when there are other deals like AMEX available at the same time.

EDIT: post #1799 has the goods!

Plus don't forget about the discount from using a Woolworths gift card - which should be at least another 5%.

Apologies in advance for thread drift. I am a recent CR user. Two conditions have me wondering about qualifying purchases. Hopefully someone can confirm if using a code or paying by gift card precludes a credit?
This from CR site.
- If you use a coupon code that is not listed on this site, rewards may not be payable.
- Cashback cannot be earned if a gift card is used or the order is not completed online

That's a standard T & C that they have, but of you look at individual offerings they will say whether or not using a gift card or code is permitted or not.

For example with cellarmasters they state:

"Pre-purchase WISH Gift Cards at a 5% discount and use them to purchase in-store or online at Cellarmasters to save even more."

So they are encouraging you to use a gift card and still get the 8% cash back.

However, I'm not sure what Betty B was thinking. As you have to use an AMEX card to get the $20 back. So using a gift card would preclude you from getting this discount.

I got HP Spend $500 or more, get $100 back x 2 cards. No need of the one. Save the offer to your Card and spend $500 or more, in one or more transactions, online only at hpshopping.com.au by 23/10/16 to receive one $100 credit. Limited to the first 15,000 Cards to save the offer. Exclusions apply.

...

What about using a discount code such as CPANEW mentioned?

I was thinking of splitting the payments. Use AMEX for the $120 - that gets you the $20 back. The use your gift card for the remainder of the purchase - that gets you another 5% on the amount over $120.

When I've used a gift card (even for a split payment) I didn't get the cash rewards from cellarmasters.

I'd stick to the AMEX for the full amount. Then you still get the additional 8% cash rewards.

I've not bought from CMs before.

1. Can the payment be split over Amex's?

2. Do they price match with Dan Murphy's? The prices seem to be 10% more than DMs (for what I want anyway).

New offers;

H&R Block 250 / 50
Ezibuy Online 40 / 20
Max Sparrow Online 700 / 150

I didn't get the H&R Block or Max Sparrow offers on my edge or velocity plat.

I did get an offer for something called M.A.C ($100/$20) though.

The excitement level peaked somewhere between meh and yaawwwnnnn......

I got H&R Block and MAC but not Max Sparrow. Also got the Ezibuy.

I think I fell off my chair when I dozed off with these offers.

I finally got around to the Harvey Norman offer.

The Visa gift cards have an expiry of 10/16 and could not be activated so I got 2 $300 VPay gift cards. Paid $11 but still in front.

These can only be used online or over the phone. Is it going to be possible to use the full amount? I know with Woolworths online I can use part payments but haven't noticed if that's possible on websites such as Agoda.

Any ideas?

Sometimes I do wonder if the effort is worth the trouble. I just lost 1h 40m in the process of saving $39.

JohnK, can you confirm the $300 VPay gift card is an online Visa card and only $5.50 to purchase?

I have a spend $300 earn 3000MR points statement credit offer so would be a good deal for a cost of $5.50.

Confirmed. Visa VPay for use online.

Confirmed. Visa VPay for use online.

Thanks. I will wander down to my local HN on the weekend to get one.

I assume I should be able to pay bills online with it, particularly ones where Amex is not accepted or with high surcharges.

$10 for spending $20 using android pay arrived today. Mrs Excel, who doesn't use android pay and is the main account holder, got an email. Was available on supplementary cards online.

Email did not list this, which got me excited, but the T&Cs on the website do say only one credit per card.
