New Lounge in CNS

I looked 2 Mondays ago and nothing had changed up that end of the corridor. May might be possible- just a few walls, kitchen and bathroom fitout, splash of paint and tiling. Can't be too hard. Very interesting...

And staff, and training, and a liquor license, and a food / health safety inspection, and and and...

To quote Jeremy Clarkson - "how hard can it be?"

I hope it's finished by July (when I fly to Cairns).

Nope... Still no changes.

That looks much more pleasant than the refurbished departure lounge downstairs. I'd pay $5 to sit on the floor up there in its current state if they'd SMS me when I can stroll downstairs for priority boarding.

Every departure from CNS lately I ask about the Lounge - I think the most accurate response I have received was in November last year when the checkin agent said, "They have told us it will open in 2013. Personally we think it will open sometime between January and December."

I see they are going for the minimalist eco look.. about a week to go by the look of that..

Just need to install a few deck chairs and an esky and it be ready to go..

Some movement at the station...

Nothing in the vacant area changed this week. The entrance to the QP is to the right of the second photo.

Whoever designed the CNS airport refurb really had a bit of a thing for long white corridors, didn't they?

Tel me when they get the TSV lounge happening! Waste of a SG card with all the flying I do there.

And I've only been to CNS once since the new airport and I'd agree it's the worst designed airport I've seen in a long time. Those danged queues for the planes get in the way of the shoppers at those exclusive boutiques!

Seams like a big space for the 'regional lounge' concept.

It will be interesting to see which part the VA lounge takes up. From what I understand, QP has first rights on taking space to expand its area, which is basically the area in front of the glass doors I took the first photo from. My guess is that the temporary doors they are building are to allow then to provide landside access to the construction area, rather than having to take tools through security screening etc.

QF is likely to take up space to minimize space available to VA.
Just like QF did with the JQ lounge at OOL to delay VA having one.

my understating is that the VA lounge will be located on the opposite side to the Qantas Club facing the car parks. This is what I was told on my tour of the airport.

Any updates anyone? Seems all has gone quiet on this forum for a Lounge that is supposedly opening in the next few months...

I haven't had a chance to have a look for a few weeks now, but will be flying out again Thursday lunchtime, so may have a chance to duck around the landside corridor to see if there is any building action going on. With those doors built in the corridor now (refer earlier pictures), it is a bit harder to get around that side to check the progress of things.

Perhaps the checkin staff know something? Each time I go through HBA they provide me with little updates and seem to be in the know...so I'd assume their colleagues in CNS would know stuff too. (about CNS of course)
