New Lounge in CNS

According to a job ad on seek the lounge is opening October 2013. I can't post links yet, but if you search seek for Virgin in Qld, Cairns it will show up.

Good news and looking forward to stepping into The Lounge, Cairns.

I had a quick look down the landside corridor on Monday and the development looks well underway. I didn't bother with photos as there was hoarding up blocking the view everywhere, though I did notice (for those who know the area), that it seems quite extensive, extending to the south end of the area over-looking the tarmac. I couldn't really tell if it will fill the entire area beyond the Qantas Club, or whether there will be a gap/void in-between the two lounges.

Nicely spotted eagle eyes!

Yay! Love the direct morning MEL-CNS flight (especially in winter) - having a lounge will make it even better!

Yay. Fantastic news.

I hate the Qantas Lounge staff in CNS. I find them rude, officious and extremely unhelpful. They are so far (and out of mind) from "head office" that they don't care about their actions, and never attempt to go "the extra mile" in any dealings that I have had, with any of them, over the years.

Can't wait to shift my CNS departing business to Virgin's lounge. (And if they are anything like Virgin's angels at OOL, I will never look back.)

Really??

That's not my experience at all.

I've found then to be absolute Angels, incredibly willing to help out, try and assist with special requests or assist solving issues etc.

Complete non-dragons.

The only thing that I find with CNS compared to SYD/MEL/BNE - they will actually swipe your card and check you have a valid flight. There's no "flash of the card" in CNS.

(Which of course is not a problem unless you were trying to gain access when not entitled).

The reason I'm looking to move my ex-CNS travel to VA is because of the removal of QF routes. I'm not going to choose JQ over VA (even more so when the Lounge opens).

I am surprised by your comments - visit the Lounge in Cairns regularly always find them helpful and pleasant. Not sure they are out of sight - the place is quite busy most of the time. I also find the FA on flights out of Cairns to be great as well. ews.

I have usually had good experiences with the Cairns QC dragons, but I see your point - a good VA and/or VA lounge prescence is the safest preventative measure against Jetstarization of your home port, thats why I'm hoping for a VA Lounge in Tsv as well (but can't see it happening too soon unfortunately)

A few lights were on tonight in the space for the VA Lounge as I flew in: tradie-type fluro ones hanging at odd angles etc, so there must be still more fit-out going on. Could vaguely tell that painting may still need to happen and couldn't quite see whether the ceiling was in. Even with the few fluros, it wasn't quite bright enough to work out how far off completion they are. Seems there is also still quite a gap in between the VA lounge and QF club, even with the recent extension of the QF Club with the children's area and offices.

So nothing has changed since the 90's (aside from the location).

And when it comes to the location of the QP, I'm going to be controversial and say that I actually liked the old QP (despite being smaller).

And yes - I I liked it both as the old QP, and as the old QP (aka new Golden Wing).

The new one is so "clinical", as I assume the Lounge will be.

White is clean, white is pure... Don't you know :)

Are you suggesting they are typical north queenslanders?

I was in the old one once, and recall the visit as I found the staff surly, compared to BNE at that time :p
