New Offer 30k Points or 200 status credits with CC Sign-Up

but would you waste a CC sign-up for 30K points?

I don't travel enough for the 200SCs to be useful anyway, so it would just sit there in my account and expire.

I'm a Red member and have a measly 3SCs (yes, three).

The 30k extra bonus points on top of whatever bonus points the CC I sign up for is more worth it for me.

If the extra 30k points gets me business class flights, I'll have the perks of a higher status member then and there with my ticket.

I'd consider taking the 200SCs more of a 'waste' in my circumstance.

If anyone was in my position - travels only a handful of times a year (if that!), I'm sure they'd take the 30k bonus points too and not consider it a waste compared to getting 200SCs that would provide no benefit if you don't travel enough to gain more SCs.

As mentioned in my earlier post, if I knew that my circumstances would change and that would then require me to travel more, then maybe the SCs might be of use.

For now though, it's definitely points > status for me.

Applied for a virgin card last week (Monday 04/03) and no update since. Called today and they said there's an issue in the backend since Friday and heaps of applications are stuck and they hope to resolve it in next 2 days.

Did anyone receive the bonus points or status credits already after hitting the minimum spend? I hit it this weekend and got the opening bonus points from AMEX but no sign of the additional bonus yet.

So what is going on with Virgin? I applied in Nov for this promotion, and never received the 30k bonus. Trying to work through this with the filipino staff is a real struggle. Currently it's an escalated case and I was told to wait 7 days.... but maybe I never actually received the email? Maybe I didn't read the fine print...and just assume once you click your reward option of 30k, that's all you need to do?

Frustrating because I hit the required spend and paid annual fee with Westpac, etc.

Now the funny thing... for the Feb 2024 promotion, I also chose the 30k option and have been waiting for an email, over 24 hours.... no email! Nothing in spam either. Maybe it is a problem with their system and my email account, but try telling this to the staff on the phone.

Yes i had the Westpac Platinum and met minimum spend within the first week. Statement arrived last week and 70K points from Westplac + 30K bonus from Virgin landed in my VFF account on 11.03.

I also got the 30K bonus points today from VA, after my 30K bonus points from Virgin Money have landed.
How long after your statement arrived until your points appeared in Velocity Kam?

Mine has been a week now and nothing. Have checked my number matches as well.

I have never had this delay before from any CC account into FF account.

OK, so it is now clear the good people at Virgin Money read AFF.

I just booked a flight for tomorrow and when I logged in I note my 30,000 points and 200 SC have been added today. So one week since the statement period closed.

Thankyou V money and V locity.

Posted over in OzB.

I applied for the Westpac Altitude Platinum Card - took five minutes for the application and approved straightaway. They then sent an information pack via email and I could set up a digital card on my phone immediately, whilst waiting for the physical card to arrive in several days. I’ve already started to spend on this card.

Will hopefully meet the $4K spend criteria then sign up my wife on the same card before the promo period ends in March.
Hey billmurray,

Do you remember what the minimum spend criteria is on the card? Just got mine, but didn't screen shot the deets - hate for it to be something like $4k in the first month and miss out by a few hundred...

I applied for the Virgin Money Flyer card and got rejected. $6k limit is what I asked (the care gives $15k as default limit I think)

Was told that based on the information I provided in my application, Virgin Money could not approve my application
I got rejected too - first time in my life I've been rejected for any kind of credit.

Not to toot my horn, but I have a chunk of assets, a salary in the top tax bracket and a typical Sydney mortgage, but I got rejected ... I rang Virgin and they basically told me they couldn't provide any further details, tough luck.

Went over to Westpac and got approved in less than 48hrs.

Not fussed, but it affects my credit score now.

$4k in 90 days (screenshot from when I applied on 14/02).

We applied for this westpac black card today . Could not do so by end of March as her online account was blocked previously . Does anyone know if they are strict with aplication deadline wrt crediting the 200 status credits ?

Does anyone remember the minimum spend criteria for the Virgin Money card? Was it 1.5k for two months?
