New Offer 30k Points or 200 status credits with CC Sign-Up

How many people actually recieved an email from Virgin after selecting either the 30k or 200SC?
Funny you asked, I received 3 emails on 3 consecutive days with the exact same content

I have two separate VFF accounts (wife and myself) and neither received the confirmation email, even though the website has the choice confirmed with the date it was selected.

Was there anything actionable in the email form Virgin or just an acknowledgement of your selection?

It was just an acknowledgement. If it's confirmed when you go to the website then I think you've done it successfully and are good to go.

This was the message I received
You have selected 200 Status Credits* as your exclusive benefit.

Once you've applied and are approved for a Velocity Points earning credit card with an annual fee, and meet the minimum spend criteria for the individual credit card offer you've applied for, your benefit will be applied.*

Terms and Conditions apply.

Yours sincerely,

Velocity Frequent Flyer

Anyone knows how much time is safe after i closed the Virgin Money velocity flyer card until i can re-apply the same card again? Hoping to get this card for the 200 status credit before expired.

Others have reported waiting approx 3-6 months at a minimum before replying, YMMV

I applied for the Virgin Money Flyer card and got rejected. $6k limit is what I asked (the care gives $15k as default limit I think)

Was told that based on the information I provided in my application, Virgin Money could not approve my application

The High Flyer card had minimum credit limit of $15k.

The Flyer card had $6k minimum credit limit.

Oh yea. So I asked for the $6k limit and was rejected. VM did not provide any explanation or reasons for rejection. Just that “sorry we are unable to approve your application this time”

My experience with anything CITI related is that there seems to be an unofficial, roughly six month period, where if you have had one of their cards a person will be automatically rejected.

I applied for this back around November and rejected. Applied a month ago and approved.

I cancelled virgin money back in Aug and re-apply last week, instant rejection. Currently holding citi prestige, citi premier at the same time, but income easily could still afford another 6k limit but still rejected

3 Citi cards, very likely the reason.

For another data point I cancelled Virgin Money Flyer back in September, and was recently approved again. I thought the high credit limit on a Westpac card might interfere, but didn't seem to be a problem.

Does anyone know if one can switch a new Westpac qantas to qantas velocity before receiving the introductory bonus points ?

Looking to move away from only exclusively earning QFF points and came along this offer.

Does anyone know if you can opt-in for this offer (30k bonus points) and then apply for alternative card that is not listed as per below, but then still receive the additional 30k points plus whatever you earn from the card itself?

ie. An ANZ Rewards Black card (not listed as per below), which awards 180k ANZ rewards points after meeting a minimum spend, which you can then use to convert to VFF points?

Reason for asking is to try to diversity points - ie. I can convert some of the ANZ points to VFF points, some to Asiamiles etc.

Would be good if the additional 30k points still applies (because even though it's not listed above, it's still a "VFF points earn").

If not, no big deal. The Westpac Altitude Platinum Credit Card with Velocity Points would work for me - only a $3k spend required and I can sign-in to get no annual fee.

Definitely has to be one of those Velocity exclusive cards, I assume they want to block out cards with manual transfers otherwise it would be too easy (e.g. 2000 Rewards points = 1000 Velocity points) and everyone with a rewards CC would be onboard for an easy 30k.

Yeah thought it would be too easy if I did that ;)

I might "toggle" between VFF points and the banks' own rewards points just to keep my options open and avoid blackout periods.

Considering QFFs somewhat de-valuation of their FF points with this Rewards+ system, I think it's time to start re-accumulating other program's points as well.

Does anyone else think this offer is lopsided? 200SC is A LOT, whereas 30K points is a bit laughable. I would have thought a more balanced choice would have been 20SC for 30K points, or 200SC for 200K points. I just hope this promo does really well for card signups and they start to offer SC bonuses for new cards more often.

But then, I have a friend who always hears me saying I got this or that benefit on points and decided to 'get on the points ladder' by taking out a new card for 10K QFF points...bless.

I think it benefits different people - some like to chase status and this would be perfect for it.

Others like myself value the points as we don't travel often enough to gain and maintain status. My agenda is to churn CCs and get bonus sign-up points, then redeem for business class reward seats.

I know I'd 100% take the extra 30k points and then have (almost) enough points for a MEL to SIN return flight in business on SQ via VFF, as an example.

Status credits are worthless to me, unless I all of a sudden started a job where I needed to travel, or if I had a long distance relationship etc - then airport perks such as priority check-in, lounges etc would be more meaningful to me.
