New Qantas 747-400 3 Class Fitout

We have just obtained Classic Award seats for QF6 - Singapore-Sydney next August (2013). It seems to be the refurbished 747 as there are Business/PE/Economy. We are in Row 16A and B - Business, so I take it these are the prime seats? They appear as Exit Row on the map. (Husband is Gold and hovering towards Platinum)

Sorry to say but if row 16 is exit row that means it is Skybed MKI (sat in 16A SIN-FRA and FRA-SIN last week and this is my favorite seat) new fitout has exit row at row 14 if I am not mistaken.

It really makes no difference since they are all old skybeds. 16A would be my pick on the upper deck. Getting off can be a bit slow. If that's important go for something on the lower deck.

Thanks Medhead. We have a 2 hour connection to Adelaide but given it is all the same PNR if we don't make it then that's the only issue. Earlier this month we were in PE on the flight from HRW and our luggage came off second - along with the First Class batch - not bad on the A380 and we had deposited our luggage in Barcelona. We made a flight that left 40 minutes after arrival.

I always take 16A (not sure why but last couple of trips QF preselected 16A or B for me automatically) and if SWMBO is with me we take 16AB

Thanks Ozmille, we are sticking with 16A and B then. I managed to sleep well in the PE seat from London so the Mk1 will suffice. Esp as it was a classic award anyway!

Our preselect was 13A and B I think - closer to the fwd I guess but room is what most people want.

Those seats are available - so it's just the Entertainment fitting in front of you?

I think because both seats have access to an aisle without climbing over anyone.

So do my 16AB and JK , some people just like zone A and others the UD, I just like the side storage and the feeling of the UD. In zone A on QF5/6 I have only done 2A and 4K, maybe time to try the EF option...

BTW, if given a choice of any seat in the front mini-cabin vs any seat in the upper deck, what would be your preference: solo & a couple ?

FWIW, 4EF is my current choice but a lot of people prefer 11 or 16 AB / JK.

Personally, I feel seat 16 is a little "exposed" having nothing in front - hence, its leg room.

I had tried 16A once but not the mini cabin so I may just - for the sake of ticking the boxes - go for 4EF (Serfty's old seats) to say that I had done it

*No word on the job front yet so still going.
