Wow... I love it. It's a real stylish flight attendant uniform but not sure about the colors - french navy with red and pink.

Same colors as old uniform back then

They called Red spider uniform.. It's so crystal clear that uniform was navy!!

Not too long ago... I have seen it when I was little.

Trials on certain flights start towards the end of this year, then the complete rollout from early 2014.

Trials are from the 18th April to 2nd May actually, and then 2014 is the full roll out, though would hope they get it on sooner ;)

Live Wearer Trial
Select employees will be trialling the new uniform for a two week period. If you are flying with us between 18 April and 2 May, look out for select Qantas staff conducting functional testing of the uniform before it goes into production.

Qantas aims to have customer facing employees in the new design in 2014.

That is very similar!

Right down to the trench coats!

Though the new uniform is a little darker I think too.

Saw all the uniforms in person today, have to say I'm impressed. Modern, stylish, and should last a long time. Well done Qantas/Martin Grant.

Cheers,
- Febs.

I'm a fan. Much nicer than the current uniform.

I particularly like the red and black contrast on the shoes (which are the highlight, I think) and the ties.

However, I'm certainly no fashionista, but mrspooky has always told me that one simply can't wear red and pink together.

mrpooky.

The red and pink not going together somehow changed about five years ago in the fashion world. I pair them all the time.

The shoes aren't part of the uniform... Although staff can purchase them if they want (apparently circa $700 ???)

ALL YOU GUYS/GALS GOTTA CLICK ON THIS LINK  BTW...SEEMS to be a predominately MALE perspective on here..be interesting to know the differences from the male to the female comments!

Hmmm... my opinion seems to be in the minority thus far... I really do not like it! I find it dark & boring; the uniform does not have the personality of the 'national airline' nor 'spirit' of Australia.

I am female, but not sure if that is indicative of anything?!

I think AJ said that it's not for Australia but for all the people from all over the world. Thus, it's an international style uniform.

Trend coat - it's for cabin crews to wear them when they are flying to London and New York in winter time. I have seen that SQ and CX also have trend coat when they are outside the airport.

It said somewhere that there's an additional lining to make it warmer, so assumed the trench coat could be used in a variety of situations, and with the added liner in colder climates, but without it in warmer ones.

french navy is indeed, to the untrained eye black (almost!) which is what makes its not black, it will pop.

this was a big step for red q, martin has had success in paris for many years, he is an amazing designer with longevity.

fashion forward looking back, well done.

there have been detachable linings in the past..so it's likely this feature will be part of the future trench

It's great to hear your thoughts on our new look. We're very excited by it and have received lots of positive feedback from our staff who can't wait to show it off. :)

Heard a discussion between female ground staff at BNE airport today.

From the limited conversation I heard they have positive things to say about the new uniform and can't wait to wear them but they do not understand the need for the scarf.

Scarves are very much fashion items. Maybe a little more fabric in them. As soon as the weather cools I'm always wearing a bright colourful one.

Cabin crew at gate today also discussing new uniform. They like it and the scarf that goes with it.

I think this one is a winner according to staff.

Well, hats off to Qantas (pun intended) - something came out and most of the organisation as a whole are liking it. Definitely a sharp contrast to some popular (or infamous) changes that have spread through the company, especially down to the front line.
