New QF A380 reconfiguration!!!

I have flown the A380, and never again if I can help it. Their on-time reliability is awful because of the coughpy RR engines.

I choose my flights specifically to avoid the A380 - gve me a reliable 747 any day!

I've never had a delay due to a "coughpy RR engine". What problem exactly have you had?

BTW, most of the 747s are RR engined.

For the last 2 years I have flown A380 SYD->LAX 4 times a year plus other HKG flights.
So at least 16 times, never once have I had a delay or plane swap.

Either I am extremely lucky or there are no problems.

That's pretty good even if we don't take into account which airline or which aircraft type it is.

I think it was on my 6th or 7th A380 flight, when it was delayed by about 5 hours. I never got to know what actually happened on that flight, since I was switched to the 744 that was also heading where I needed to be.

I checked my Y+ seat selections for SYD/SIN/SYD on QF 1 and 2. 1st leg (27JUL) I still have 38J/K but for our return flight (07AUG), it looks like we are on the reconfigured planes as we are now in 25A/B. Does anyone know if there are better seats than these to select? It's 2nd row in the cabin. 1st row was shaded when I looked last night. Hopefully the first flight won't change so we will get to compare fit outs.

I have been lucky too but the ridiculous 45 minute taxi from LAX is a ridiculous - crossing two active runways then going all the way to the other end, ridiculous from LAX.

24 A/B or J/K would be better as they are exit rows but you'd need to pay extra. Apart from that, all Y+ seats look much the same, going from the seat plan.

Afaik you don't need to pay extra for Y+ exit rows

Thanks for the advice. All of 24 is greyed when I check. May need to get Mr Natalie to check if he canget them as he has higher status than me.

No luck. Row 24 was blocked for him as well. Guess we'll just see what happens, there is still a while between now and that flight.

Looking at the new map is there 5 Toilets for the upper deck and 7 for downstairs? (Im looking at all the B,H, and L) or is that not correct?

B, H and T is how they're denoted. There are 5 upstairs and 9 downstairs (including first but not including the flight deck loo).

They are still advertising the self serve area for PE on the website. How does that work for flights travelling now that no longer have this facility?

They've advertised flat J beds for years.....IMO there is a mighty difference between flat & sloped:evil:

It does to this simply FF;) Thats why I've spent my hard earned flying CX or BA:!:

If flat means, erm flat then I'm not sure why 'full flat' should mean horizontal!?

Agreed, there is a world of difference between Skybed Mk1 and Mk2.

Flat does not mean horizontal!

In the context of a bed, I think it should.

Was amazed the first time I used Skybed and found that they were advertising a flat bed that was, in fact, on a slope not conducive to sleeping. Weasel-esque marketing from QF.

One of the most misleading product offerings ever. If they didn't call it a bed, fair enough. But say the words 'flat bed' to a hundred people and I'll bet 100 of them will imagine a bed that is indeed parallel to the ground.
