Still plenty of time for a swap considering there are a few 380 flights that have been delayed of late.
Yeah am planning to keep a close eye on it, who knows!

and it won't let me select a seat now, QF website keeps giving me an error when i try to save my seat selection...
I had the same happen - you will need to give them a call to get your seat selected. (or wait until OLCI)It did the same thing when I lost my seat that's no longer available on the updated flight. I think you'll need to give them a call to select another seat.... and it won't let me select a seat now, QF website keeps giving me an error when i try to save my seat selection...
Damn my flight LAX-MEL QF94 on 15 Nov has been switched back to the old config so I've lost my 32AB and the good seats in row 80/71 are taken... and it won't let me select a seat now, QF website keeps giving me an error when i try to save my seat selection...

Always seems to be QF1 that gets delayed despite there being other A380 flights out of SYD on that day... is QF1 a curse?
Wasn't an issue for me. I got away on QF2 just fine
It's hit and miss - but if there is to be an A380 delay in SYD, it's consistently been QF1 lately.
If it was QF, even ex-SYD, they would probably just say come back the next day, very much like a budget airline.
QF127 has a pretty quick turn-around in HKG, QF11 has about 12.5 hours, and QF1 has around 15 hours. QF1 also departs the latest each day, and QF9 can also take up some of the slack for ex-SIN pax, so from a pure operational point of view, delaying QF1 is probably the best option if one must be delayed.
Having said that, I would expect a full service airline to have a back-up aircraft at its home base. There was a time when I was on CX for HKG-SYD, the inbound was very late, so they just used a back-up instead. If it was QF, even ex-SYD, they would probably just say come back the next day, very much like a budget airline.
Good point but not looking good for that either...This might actually be a blessing - more seats for upgrades to J!

A spare car at home? Why not go all-out like this FTer who hires a chase car to follow him to the airport in case of bad traffic or an accident:
Yeah, all airlines should have spare aircraft jsut sitting around..........and we can all afford to have a spare car ready to go at all times if our car breaks down.
I pride myself on being obsessive: daily checks of all PNRs, tail-number tracking, hiring a chase car to follow me to the airport in case there's an accident, and yet I let this amateur at BA screw up my vacation.
