New QF A380 reconfiguration!!!

And not one of them has been on the a/c yet so have no first hand experience of how bad it is, or how maybe not that different it is. But as usual many are threatening to take the bat and ball.

As someone who has self funded several J trips in the last 6 months what part of the changes could possibly make it more worth the cost? Less bathrooms, loss of the disabled bathroom which I preferred for changing/getting organized in the morning, a slightly bigger cabin, no self-service bar which I liked as I wander around on a long flight.

The direct flight to LAX is a major positive but other products are looking good.

Just a sample of one, but no disabled bathroom means no more J travel on the Qantas A380 for my family. We can squeeze into a regular-sized bathroom, but at the cost of some dignity. Pity, as it's a good service otherwise.

I'll have to have a better look at the seat mapping to check bathroom access though.

An F cabin on the flagship should be exclusive. I would think that even 3 pax walking through twice is unacceptable. Of course, if only the front left door is used for boarding, then unfortunately, everyone need to go pass the cabin, so it cannot be avoided. But in this case, the row 48 pax should be sent somewhere else. Whether they wait at the gate, wait at the galley or wait at the toilets, it doesn't matter. They shouldn't be taken through the F cabin. While I have never traveled in F, I'm sure people choose/pay for it for very good reasons.

What a horrific layout - I was looking forward to flying F to L.A. in October, but now I need to reconsider. I would not enjoy sharing F facilities with Y passengers -- imagine if a young child was seated in 48!!

Row 48 is a silly procedure however, sharing of F facilities:confused: All they are going to do is walk through twice & then it's back to slumming it. I'm sure most people won't even notice.

F facilities are already shared - Flounge is full of whY, PE, J & J* passengers.

Are the children that sit in F different to the ones that sit in whY:?:

I really don't get this row 48 saga? Why not simply say at checkin/booking that due to the special nature of these seats you will board the plane last - tell them that the storage above the seat will remain reserved for them, sell them on the benefit of also being among the first of the plane. If they don't like it - refund the upgrade fee and sell it to someone who doesn't care.

I don't really think walking through the F cabin during boarding is an issue at all - mainly flabbergasted at the staff resources spent on baby sitting a handful of passengers for no apparent reason.

I suggest the row 48 Paxs will be WPs or better. Not so riff-raff after all. Maybe Row 48 seating will become a stated WP or better bennie?

just heard that someone is really really pissed off about this thread and how it leaked out. they are in massive damage control at the moment.

Not surprising, rather than being pissed off at the message, its the messenger that should be scolded.

Yes, now marketing can't just email everyone with a new enhancement, PR might actually have to earn their pay packet. Leak or not, what reaction might one expect to this news?

you think the OP shouldn't have posted it? I really glad that he or she did. everyone's comments have provided really good feedback to QF so if they were smart they would listen to the people on here. Redrooster is still to make a comment though.

No, quite the opposite.
Not surprising that a corporate PR machine is more angry about the "leaking" than about the message thats leaked.

No doubt Qantas are quickly filming a promotional video highlight the benefits of the reconfiguration such as the addition of a third espresso machine.

Your kidding, aren't you?
Reduction in toilets is, to me, the most concerning, then possibly self service bars, reconfig PE/Y upstairs... possibly, but 3 Y folks walking twice through F?

Depends where you sit? That boarding procedure just seems farcical on the face of it. Maybe their logic is if remove self service bars then pax won't need the lavatories as much?

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.............. where on earth is Boss Reggie for this Row 48 debate!

I can't imagine anymore more qualified or relevant to answer the questions of how much this would impact a paying F passenger!!!

I never realised how many FF's checked out the bog map before buying tickets;) Maybe there's money to be made here:-

Call me a cynic but I find it interesting that, yet again, ABT has a fairly extensive story that contains much of the information that was available here first. Innocent until proven guilty, however.
