New Zealand Introduces 14 Day Quarantine for All Arrivals

Looking at the "Self Isolate" page I wonder how they'd treat a status run with a short turnaround? Fly in, transit (or isolate overnight at hotel) and fly out.
I'm wondering this as well... got a 14h transit. Planned to stay in a hotel and head straight back to the airport in the morning.

Under the current explanation of "self isolate" if I arrive at AKL airport and walk to the Novotel or IBIS, stay in my room overnight (allowing a quick trip to the nearby supermarket or fast food outlet) walk back to the terminal the next day and depart for Oz, I have complied. I have not been in the company of any one for more than 15 minutes and restricted my proximity to people to 1 metre or more. The only country I have been in in the last 30 days is, except for NZ a week ago, Australia. Probably all my flights will be cancelled and that will make the decision very easy. QF will no doubt, no matter what happen, still want their cancellation fees or allow me to use the funds towards another flight - within 12 months.

I already have funds accumulating with QF from a postponed February "J" HKG trip so if I add NZ (also in J) I may get to the point I cannot utilise the banked funds before the 12 months expires, particularly as my July Europe trips are also in J and they will add seriously to my balance.

My DSC run to NZ is in late April so I will see what develops.

Just remember, NZ has the right to not let you in. Meeting the criteria : Australian Resident Visa

we have reason to believe you may be a risk to New Zealand’s security, public order or public interest
.

Doing a status run with a stay less than 24 hours could well make them determine you are an unnecessary risk to NZ.

Just heard about the man who got on a flight to NZ whilst awaiting a test result that since tested positive! I thought you were meant to self isolate whilst awaiting results.
You most certainly are especially as they are testing only those who have a very likely case of testing positive. Disgusting.

Must have been reading some of the more interesting ways of interpreting the Kiwi restrictions, as posted by one or two of our AFF members. 😉

I thought that too :) ...i hope whoever he is is ashamed of himself.

I just listened to Jacinta Ardern. People may not like her politics, but she has a very good way of conveying the message.
It's no surprise why s so well regarded internationally. In NZ itself, well most are wedded to their party and so have a huge amount of bias in their assessment hence why the external view is meaningful. There are probably two main ways she stands out from most politicians, a) she is genuine, b) she is not afraid to lead unlike some many governments these days who take an opinion poll before doing anaything.

Jeez, they are directed by the CMO advice .... try taking a break from the political BS - it's starting to show!

I'm sure you're better than this....
Maybe because as we well know our government can be extremely selective as to how and when they take advice. In turn sometimes agencies are persuaded to ensure they give only the advice the government of the day wants. To mods, some might take this as a 'political' comment which it is, but I'd note this applies to governments of both left and right persuasion across the world, unfortunately. There was a good reason that most public services were setup to serve the public (not the government of the day) but this has broken down in many if not most countries these days,

Not sure it's polite alleging the CMO is influenced. Pretty confident he and his colleagues would find the slur very insulting.

I see nothing from Burmans about a CMO.

However, I’m due at Specsavers soon. 😉
