New Zealand Introduces 14 Day Quarantine for All Arrivals

Besides, the PM has taken the decision to create an unprecedented "national cabinet" ..... at long last we can just kill the political BS and pointless posts that has so affected AFF :)

But, shouldn’t a national cabinet be like a war cabinet and include all sides of politics (Greens and One Nation excepted) to get the politics out of it all?

Pity recent governments have neutered the “independent“ public service.

Not sure it's polite alleging the CMO is influenced. Pretty confident he and his colleagues would find the slur very insulting.
I’m absolutely sure they would. And nevertheless history provides us with thousands of examples where indeed this occurs. There is many, many studies of human behaviour to support the assertion that how you will be measured affects how you behave.

Sigh, its still not good enough... no surprises there ;)

It includes the leaders of every state and territory, never been done before, and still some on here just reject out of hand. If it really matters the score card for the states and T is ALP 5 v LNP 3. So that tips the final balance in favour of ALP 5 v LNP 4 - that good enough for you... and others here? :)

It also includes the PS that you allege have been neutered...

The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee will advise the group on health responses, which could involve sharing of resources. The AHPPC is chaired by Chief Medical Officer Brendan Murphy and includes state and territory chief health officers.

"There are many others who will be advising through to the group on other matters I've referred to, but that's the medical advice, the best medical advice, which will be the basis of the protocols, guidelines and decisions which will be made by premiers, chief ministers and of course myself as Prime Minister together with our respective cabinets," Mr Morrison said.

Hallelujah (and praise The Lord) 😀

Edit: Oh, no. I may have to take that back, having not read the article properly. I wrongly assumed that it was bI-partisan at the Federal level. Not so, however. What a missed opportunity.

Confused - are you correcting your wrong? or just....

So no proof, more like posting your own opinion.

This post is off-topic.

However, I wish to explain that I have reviewed and deleted some of my earlier posts which were clearly not on topic (other than my posts quoted by other members, which I am unable to delete, of course). It would be up to those members to delete my quoted comments, should they wish to do so.

Hi everyone, thanks to advice given on this forum I have successfully cancelled our plans for NZ. In case it helps anyone else:

*Virgin Business Flight made with Eithad points changed at cost 43 au each. Fee du to my decision to change past free window given by Eithad. Very easy to deal with and no wait at 9.30 pm.

*non refundable accomodation. The following hotels have given full refund. Bookings direct with Hyatt, Sudima, Mantra, YHA, Parkroyal and ndependent motels. Agoda and hotel.com arranged full refunds also. Very relieved. All were very easy to deal with.

*Accor limitless. Only one not to offer full refund. Both twitter and Facebook details numerous people out of pocket (more so than I am). The policy is very limiting compared to the other groups.

* Accor policy gives full refunds to some locations where restrictions are in place but at this time has been tardy with aust and NZ. Offered change to end of year but that will not help some (includes me).

*Accor very tardy responding to emails. Just receive acknowledgement but no response.

Overall I am very happy with result given situation. However Accor...to me you are dead. I believe this short term business decision will impact on brand loyalty. The true worth and professionalism of any business relationships depends on how situations are handled, in both the smooth and rough times. A big fail for me.

Thanks again to those you pointed me in the right direction. Hope this helps someone. Cheers

We hardly use Accor but they have given us a full refund.
Rydges on the other hand will just extend the time to stay.

Yes, I also cancelled Accor in BNE on the way home and no issues. Had flexible booking but told I would have had my money back if it was prepaid too. This was immediately after the 14 days quarantine for all travellers from OS was announced, so might be worth trying them again. Restrictions are in place here too!

cheers skip

Under the current explanation of "self isolate" if I arrive at AKL airport and walk to the Novotel or IBIS, stay in my room overnight (allowing a quick trip to the nearby supermarket or fast food outlet) walk back to the terminal the next day and depart for Oz, I have complied. I have not been in the company of any one for more than 15 minutes and restricted my proximity to people to 1 metre or more. The only country I have been in in the last 30 days is, except for NZ a week ago, Australia.

Exactly! (Or at least at the time we posted). That was my plain interpretation as well.

Must have been reading some of the more interesting ways of interpreting the Kiwi restrictions, as posted by one or two of our AFF members. 😉

If you actually read the NZ guidance (at least at the time we posted), you'll see the 'interpretations' are pretty easy to come to. The guidance is/was written in pretty simple English. If I took my fanciful self-drive holiday, and somehow I was called to account, I would pull the guidelines out of my pocket and ask where my contravention was, with a clear conscience. If they wanted to take if further, then so would I. I love NZ.

Same with the Australian self-isolation policy/guidance. Its operation is not what many people on AFF seem to think - if you read it as plain English and not with some pre-conceived idea. You can do a LOT and not contravene it - whether you want to choose to do such, is another issue.

Besides, the PM has taken the decision to create an unprecedented "national cabinet" ..... at long last we can just kill the political BS and pointless posts that has so affected AFF :)

Unfortunately, there are some here who just can't get past the politics and nothing, nothing the federal govt does will escape the sniping or dis-approval or 'clever' comments.

No Sydney.
Thanks
