tried it today, sign came up saying go see the service desk... I was like lame... might be something wrong with the chip in my card...

flight back from perth wasn't good either... AVOD didn't work and I need to punch myself in the face for asking for the spag with meatballs again... =(

It’s been a while, I assume the bugs in the system are being ironed out and the system is working well for people?

Can't wait for it to happen in MEL, even when they start building it will be exciting!

I thought SYD was the next stop in the line?

I wonder how far off they are, too. There are no construction people around, but they do have those huge cordoned off areas off behind check-in, to the side of security.

Maybe there's a hole in the fence somewhere we can have a sneak peek?

L.

Take the escalators on airside in order to access the lounges; you can then look through the glass over the check-in area, and the cordoned off areas.

I saw a couple of people wandering around the last time I was there; apart from that, plaster board etc. the usual construction mess here and there. I can't quite deduce where they'll put the new security screening entry for direct lounge access, if there will be one...

If they’re so on track then, I should expect a new card before years end. :)

And to try the system out for myself soon :D

I wonder when they'll start general distribution - my housemate received his new WP card last week and it's still the old type. I wasn't part of the trying because I've never been to PER (haven't had a reason to) :)

As for me, I'll be happy once Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne are done - because that'll cover 99% of my travel (most of which is carry on only):

:)

On a related note - has anyone had the chip conflict with other RFID cards? I carry a few in my wallet already, and one of them cancels out another one (both access cards for different buildings).

This is frustrating because I'm the lazy type that just likes to hold the wallet up to the reader :)

Annoying I'd say. My Octopus from HK could probably work through steel, but every card since, even when on it's own, needs to be taken out of my wallet.

Why can't they make them like they used to make them?

Thanks for the heads up Sam. I will probably need a new one when I go back as it's now over two years since I was there and I believe it is a two year expiry.

Strike that, just found it.

A while back, I remember someone either uploading to an A3 sized document from QF which outlined the various elements of NGCI and who they were acceptable to.

I've hunted around tonight, but can't find the post with it. Does anyone remember it's title, which thread it was in, or know where to find it?

Hmmm, I wonder if the issuing of new cards is causing a delay in the distribution of renewal packs.

For the last umpteen years I have received my new card around seven to eight weeks before the October end of my "Year".

While I am current sitting on over 2400 SC's for the year I have yet to receive mine. My status is already showing next review in Oct 2011.

It is possible Qantas may have changed their renewal process but I doubt it.

Those bag tags look interesting. Has everyone in the trial got them or are they due to be rolled out later?

I heard it was to be rolled out after the Q Card system itself is up and going, unlike Q card NB members will be able to purchase tags.

Well, I dare say given what's being reported over in this thread, the delays in receiving your new card may be even longer still with a truckload new PS cards being issued due to qualification barrier for PS dropping to 300SC in the last few days.
