Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Recent riesling tasting in Brisbane.
Loved the Freycinet (not pictured) unfortunately. True varietal. Floral nose. Savoury spice and citrus. Impeccably balanced fruit/acid with long finish. Will cellar well.

PJM and I had the Plantagenet on Friday night and the Woodlands on Saturday night. The Albarino has been my aperitif the last couple of nights. Half of the Stella Bella went down tonight.

All the reds were very good. The Woodlands is a Cab Sav/Merlot/Malbec (67/17/16%) blend. For QF WP, Woodlands is spitting distance from Moss Wood. It is a small producer and one of the longer established wineries in the Margaret River region but it fell into a hole several years back. It has come roaring back in no uncertain terms in recent times. (Also, like Moss Wood, it is one of the very few MR producers to still make a Pinot Noir.) In fact, they may be the only two: paging Daver6.

The Albarino was reasonable, but not a standout. It just didn't have the classic flavour profile. Good Albarino is right up there as one of my favourite versatile (ie. aperitif and with food) whites. Funnily enough, I had the most amazing classical expression of an Albarino from a vineyard in Virginia in LOTFAP when I was cruising around there last year. It was stunning.

I have previously recounted the disastrous story of attempts to introduce Albarino to Australia. I see recently that NZ has managed to get the correct variety over there .

"Conferencing" here too Princess Fiona.;)
Minutes of the meeting.
I love Sancerre with oysters. It also complimented the crayfish. Stellar pinot and some chardonnay based bubbles to finish.

Not 100% sure. I was aware of the Woodlands. I have a friend who has tried a lot of their wine (he is a bit of a Burgundy nut actually) and really didn't rate the Woodlands Pinot. He did like the Moss Wood one though. Can't think of any others, but having said that, I'd be a little surprised if there weren't.

This Blackie/Blacky thing needs to stop. Seriously.
They're pushing buttons to see when you'll bite. Ignore them and they'll go away ;)

Love the upside down picture. Imagined them like glasses hanging from a bar. Now I needed a flip top head to read them though. Bit of sediment in the Two Hands :D

Great company notzac and penegal.
