Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Last night at the Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino, Vancouver Island, BC so dinner in the lovely Pointe Restaurant overlooking Chesterman's beach. Went 'localism' (kind of - not a great fan of Canadian Okanagen Chards) for the first. A nice Columbia River Chardonnay. Too warm when served but in aeration and chilling was a very nice example of the region. I'm getting to like the Columbia River whites - some very nice wines.

Nice oak and malo and good depth.

Second half went for a classic Napa Chardonnay. MrsTMA preferred this one. (Sigh.) More lemon pepper on palate.

Life is good :D

My first Pinot Noir from Nocton in the Coal River Valley (Tassie). It is very light and easy drinking - I am enjoying it. I will buy more next time BWS has a 30% off sale.

Re: Nice Wines I have DranK Recently - Red or White

Made it to the Willamette Valley today at the Allison resort. More details in my TR.

Started the Willamette journey with flights if Chardonnay and Pinot.

Choices...

Pick the Bethel Ridge. winemaker notes.

TASTING NOTES: Aromas of honeydew melon, white peach, and lemon verbena with hints of star anise, nutmeg, and whitepepper. The palate features flavors of banana and lemon zestwith a hint of mid-palate salinity, and bright acidity that carriesthe wine to a long, graceful finish.

Pick J. Christopher. Maker's notes.

The Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is the flagship J. Christopher wine. The 2012 is blended from excellent vineyards in four of the Willamette Valley’s AVAs: Dundee Hills, Chehalem Mountains, Yamhill-Carlton and Eola-Amity Hills. Made with native fermentations and up to 18 months of barrel time, this is classic Oregon Pinot Noir.

This Terroir Series cuvée is a blend of selected barrels from severalexcellent vineyard sites in the red Jory clay of the Dundee HillsAVA. The 2012 was sourced from three sites: La Colina, Meyerand Charlie’s Vineyard. Rich and dark, it still shows the high-toned elegance of the Dundee Hills, with a fine mix of raspberryand rhubarb held together with a stony grip and a firm acid struc-ture. There’s a lively edge to the wine, with fine tannins that lead to a long, sweet finish.

Anyone had the 2012 Penfolds Bin 28 Kalimna. If so, thoughts please?

VC have it for $28.99, plus a $25 voucher for 6 bottle buy. I make that $24.83 per bottle, $10.40 cheaper than DM. (Excluding wish gift card & $19 delivery to DRW which roughly cancel each other out)

2012 Bin 389 also in the $25 voucher deal at $58.99, puts it almost $20 per bottle cheaper than DM

Yes. Annoyingly I didn't write any notes and don't recall particulars other than needs time. Was an excellent example of Bin 28 (vintage wise). If its a style you enjoy, then yes worth getting. Personally, I have nine bottles of the 2012 Bin 28 in the cellar. Originally purchased three. Then had an offer for another 6 at a price too good to turn down.

Don't get too suckered in by the VC cellar share though. It isn't quite $25 off...but rather $25 off a future purchase.
