Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Eat your heart out, girls...:)

Post lunch Champagne. We agreed that it was good, but bettered by the Geoffroy.

All followed by a beer at the Petition Beer Corner (18 beers on tap).

Phew!

Next trip I am hoping will be in December, once my new business is set up in our new premises, as I have some clients that I want to see and explain the reasons for the change. Plus need a trip to Lalla Rookh or similar with new and a few of the locals...try and drag along daver6.

To keep this on topic, I have just finished my first Rockfords 2014 Alicante Bouchet. Not quite to my taste, but refreshing, chilled and helped me get some work done. Time for some shut eye.

Poor boy... does he realise that you are trying to pimp him out on AFF??
I see things were getting a bit blurry by the second bottle of champagne!
What did you think of the Reserve Syrah?

Partook of a few scraps at Post in PER over a, err, shall we say, extended  period this afternoon with my elder son who was finally in town for my recent birthday.

Started with a Geoffroy Champagne - sensational IMHO - but hard to source. Stelzer gives it a big tick.

Before I even saw you posted the back label I was about to say, Eurocentric sell it. http://www.eurocentricwine.com.au/i...art&page=shop.browse&category_id=18&Itemid=59

What I meant was that none of the usual major retailers stock it, nor does such specialists as Champagne Gallery. The Petition Winebar is also a retail shop, so it can be bought and taken away from there. If you buy a bottle of wine there and they serve it, it's only $15 corkage.

Another Champagne that I'd like to be able to get in Australia but doesn't seem available here is Deutz. Do you know of a supplier?

Keyneton2009.jpg

Decided to crack open one of my 2009 Henschke Keyneton Euphoniums last night. What an absolute ripper of a wine.
Intense aromas of plum, blackberry and leather. Smooth palate with hints of blackcurrent, berries and dark chocolate and lingering smooth tannins. My favourite wine that I've had this year ... now to see if I can source some more at a reasonable price!

Sounds delicious. Now after that write, the price will now surely rise ...!! If you do find any, then please do let us know. I would be interested ...

1st Choice has the current 2012 vintage at $39.90 across any 6. Dan's has the 2009 at $50 a bottle - but winesellersdirect.com.au has the 2009 at $44.99 a bottle.

This is a Bordeaux-style blend IIRC. Smoother than a straight cab sauv - Pyrus is similar.

Re: Nice Wines I have DranK Recently - Red or White

Just heading home in the soggy rain of Sydney (secretly hoping Mrs Wozza will pick me up from the station), and having just finished the obligatory Friday Night Drinks at work. And guess what? I think I may have a contender for that allusive Pinot Noir under $40 ...! [Embarrassing jump for joy in the air, just for me then!]

And the contender is the: Brown Magpie Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013

{picture to insert when at the computer}

This was Burgandy from the colour to the taste, and all for a respectable Aussie price of $25 through CBD Cellars (broker only). On Vivino I have just posted the following review:

http://www.vivino.com/wines/8602985

"Oh this is a lovely wine had at our work Friday night drinks, courtesy of a promo from CBD Cellars - as you do! It's got a pretty alcoholic nose on the obligatory swill, and a Burgundy colour. But as you taste it, you get cherries, fresh autumn leaves (as the label picture indicates), and those gamey, charcuterie flavours I love in a Pinot Noir. This is seriously good for the price, and a bit French, if I might say. It's still a bit young, but is fine to drink now. Amazing for the price - get some!"

That's a Vivino 4 stars from me.

I didn't source this wine, so I did a quick Google and see Sir Halliday gave it 95 Points and myWineGuy is selling it for $25.95 a bottle in a 12 pack:

Pinot Noir lovers, please take note ...

Went down to cellar to find a nice Burgundy to honour France in her dark hour and found a whole case of these. Best drunk I feel. Corks are quite soft and reaching their limits but wine is fine. Beautifully mature, slight brown but drinking very smoothly.
