Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

We had some fun last night!

The Mount Mary were both close to being past it, the Dorrien was just drinkable, The Howard Park was as you would expect, devine and Koltz is now one of my favourites, so I always enjoy drinking wine from there, regardless of vintage :)

I missed one, we also had a Lindemans 1990 St George cab/sav.....

Pinot Noir night here. The Lot 16 is very juicy, medium to full body, deep dark red fruit, velvety mouth feel with a reasonably long finish. It is drinking well now but I look forward to trying in 5-7 years.

Tried Taylors temperature challenge tonight.

My conclusion, It's impossible to keep wine in ideal drinking temperature (according to Taylors labels) outside the wine fridge, even when room temperature is set on 18C.

Purchased a couple of these (as well as some Pinot Noir) at the cellar door several years ago. Cracked the first one of these tonight. Needed a couple of hours in the decanter to really open. A really subtle, refined Chardonnay. Will wait another couple of years before opening the other bottle.

Thanks for your recommendation before my holiday to the LOTFAP ~18 months ago cove. I'm a happy little Vegemite tonight.

'08 Alexander valley Silver Oak Cab Sauv.
Beautiful nose, full body, oak, ripe fruit, powdery tannins and a long finish. Different style to Aussie CS and a very wine.

Yarra Yering Dry Red N°1 1999:
just awesome. Blood red colour. Intense cassis, olive, dusty earth, cigar box and a hint of eucalyptus on the nose. The palate is smooth, medium bodied with soft tannins all sustained with just 12.5% alcohol. The finish of savoury spice and graphite. Just great left-bank style Bordeaux. CT93

One of the rare times I've wanted to call my wine consultant at 4am

I sent him a text instead

A couple of nice wines last week...the standouts were

GB Meshach 2005 - One of my go to wines...powerful.. rich... intoxicating...lashings of coconut...massive fruit sweetness but far from cloying with the oak mellowing behind it - absolutely delish!!!!

Dalrymple Pinot 2013 - Huge on a pinot scale ,which is probably why I enjoyed it so much, deep crimson, strawberries and toast like oak - Excellent
