Was that a mini-vertical of the Moppa Springs?
Indeed. We had the 2006, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

I've often wondered about whether it's worth aging the Moppa Springs - any insights from the tasting? I had an '09 recently that I thought was in a good place..Indeed. We had the 2006, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Is that a few Brash Higgins sitting in the rack Daver6?

I've read about people aging them for 20+ years with good results. I suspect all depends on how you like your wine, but sounds like the right vintages will go the distance from my reading.

Thanks for the info. I've only tried the Merlot, such a different wine and worth experiencing. I have a chance to pick up some Omensetter at a very reasonable price but still thinking on it.Nice spotting! Correct. I've got about a dozen and half wines from Brash Higgins. I'm a big fan of his and his wines. He's a really nice, down to earth bloke to top it off. His Cab Franc is top notch and the Shiraz with 5 years of age on it is amazing value for money IMHO. Also like what he does with his whites and his experimenting. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a bottle of Bloom, but yet to open it.
Thanks for the info. Have three 09s left so might try them over the next 5 years. You certainly can. I don't think they would go quite as far as the Shiraz or Cab Sauv, but certainly 8-10 years for a good vintage is "safe".
Last night the 2006 was sublime. I am not sure I would bother aging any further, as it's in a good pocket. Great medium bodied red blend.
The 2010 was also excellent. It could easily have another year or two for my palate, but certainly no harm drinking now.
The 2012 was still "young" to me, and would benefit from another 2 years minimum.
Of course, they all were fine to drink now. The second glass of the '11 and '12 definitely benefited from a little [decanted] air time.

I had a 2009 last year. Can't remember if I did a review here or not.
It was good. If I can where in my cellar I put the rest, I will drink them over the next 2-3 years.
Actually - post 101 of this thread has a review from Buzzard.

My first post in this thread, hopefully not my last
Having only started to drink wine in 2016 , this was my first bottle that cost more than $30 I've ever drank .
We had this on new years eve. I don't remember exactly how it tasted writing it up now, but luckily I did my own notes back then:

On opening notes of nuttyness, quickly dissipated. 1st drink on opening, a bit tight. left for 3 hrs decantered and was incredibly smooth. mocha tones and dark fruits. Lots of tannin Colour, deep maroon 9/10

Nice to know where I stand!A fabulous evening at chez TomCat last night with a few friends including Penegal.
Ah fond memories of when Pyrex paraphernalia constituted a significant proportion of share house domestic consumable implements in many forms, sizes and combinations.
We, ah, probably had inferior wine to this back in the day ...
Nice to know where I stand!
JD cellars latest secret wine 89 looks like Thompson Estate Cab sav 2013 down from $50 to $18.82 However I think the $50 may be slightly inflated.
95 from JH.
