Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Last one of the half dozen I bought from either Langtons or Cracka

My wife has been loving the Bordeauxs I've been pulling out from the (drinking) wine rack, but now I need to replenish as I only have 1 Bordeaux left :o

One wife, one Bordeaux. Difficult decisions! Probably Bordeaux premier crus are cheaper but less rewarding! :)

I certainly can't describe a wine like say Wozza or AC et al but this one is stunning IMHO and it's a cheapie from the Fo. The nose is intoxicating, just so perfumed and the palate just dances with flavour and complexity. Seriously folks, I've not had a dance with Amelia that I haven't enjoyed. Given her youth, I wonder what she will be like in adolescence???

A really nice wine but not for much further cellaring. Each year Tahbilk put out a mystery dozen of wines submitted for a shiraz challenge.Every 2-3 years I buy a dozen.this was one of those.
Tonight though a wine I thought I may be consigning to the kitchen sink.another I have discovered that I thought should have been consumed before now.A Taylor's Clare Valley number.definitely not for keeping now but still very enjoyable-

Had dinner with some friends to celebrate 18 years of being parents. ( Actually just celebrating my first born 18th without her !! )..First time drinking some French wine..have no idea what this was but my best mate just brought it back from France and we smashed it out tonight. This wine for me that smells very different to how it tastes..

If it helps, Haut-Medoc is a left-bank Bordeaux. The appellation is close to the Atlantic Ocean, and the blend would be similar to both the Diana Madeline and the Quintets.

The 'Cru Bourgeois' designation is awarded annually to quality wines, generally outside those of the classed growths of the 1855 classification.

Following behind BC20 and AC's lead, I had a bottle of '11 St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz yesterday- I opened it about 12 hours before trying, it has been about 13 months since my last and I really enjoyed it. I give it a 92

Other wines I've had recently are a '13 Tamar Ridge PN that started out with a confectionery slant but improved over time and a '12 Maverick Twins GSM - quality quaffing

Nice to hear that a 2011 Barossan is up to the mark Steady, with so many dud wines from that patchy vintage it's a lottery. Here's a snap of a WA Merlot from the esteemed Moss Wood winery part of a trio sent my way by a generous AFFer who shall remain nameless (well, actually it was Rug :)). Soft, smooth, the epitome of elegance, more fruit than oak-driven, already drinking well despite its relative youth but I think it would be a crime to drink the other two bottles without giving them a decent lie down in the wood shed aka wine cellar. Cheers dears....

WD, I tried to PM you but your address changes. Can you please PM me and I will reply with the info

Opened this bottle with low expectations considering the vintage. Decanted for an hour and was pleasantly surprised. While aroma is quite strong it's drinking very smoothly. Very suitable mid-week quaffer.

Good to know boomy.

I believe it was QF WP who gifted me a bottle of exactly the same (and same vintage). Might have to try soon.

Another wine at it's peak.delightful.

Another WA stunner, the Domaine Naturaliste 2014 Margaret River Cab Sav: deep violet/magenta in the glass with long, long legs hiking up the sides meandering to a savoury, slightly dusty but complex palate with red currants and black currants to the fore, there is a faint lick of anise dancing in the afterglow (which is long and languid), a lovely wine...

Thanks Steady, I have to fess up that it's my youngest son's handiwork (the photo), he's studying languages at Uni but is a dab hand with a DSLR;)

This week has been a little slow:

The Virgin Hills is the first of my 6 pack I bought ~6 to 12 months ago. Not surprisingly, the first sip wasn't the best so I let it sit in glass for 30 mins, when it had calmed down but there continued to be a smell and taste that I couldn't nail down. The next glass was still strange - both on the nose as well on the aftertaste. However, on Tuesday night it was much better and paired with a casserole and pasta. Wife didn't like her small glass each night so I polished them off.

The Corrinas I opened on Wed night (from the recent Halliday Dozen from Epiqure) and I could tell straight away it had legs all the way up to the neck of the bottle. Enjoyed finishing off this bottle immensely last night, with a chicken parma and roast potatoes.
