Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

How did you find the '07 Virgin Hills? I really struggled with the '03. '05 was better but not great either.

I added my comments by editing the initial post (probably as you were posting). I really need to decant them for longer, but by the time I get home and dinner is served, there is little time for it to breathe. I am going to drink them in reverse order (so the youngest first - this was the '07). Will now look to my 05, 03, 00 and 98 (I'm missing one year somewhere, can't remember it).

3hrs later. Cullen was good, but far from trancedent. The Conterno Barolo on the other hand, with 3 hrs breathing, is exceptional - mild mushroom flavours, brilliant softened tannins, wonderful gunsmoke nose. Just brilliant example of a nice medium aged Barolo. I asked permission to say "ah this Barolo reminds me of the fabulous young woman I married 39 years ago", and the answer was "if you want to post that then that's ok with me, and your doing the washing up, plus 'And I'm still here!"

Time for dinner and watching "A street cat called Bob".

Doesn't get more exciting than this!

The Suggestions and Feedback section is where you should be discussing that... but if you've checked out Community Announcements you will know that some changes are coming.

Can anyone recommend a nice Pinot in the $20-$27 bracket. Tried the Coldstream Hills (usually the go to one or diamond valley) the other night and very disappointed - tasted watered down. Dan's did not have the Diamond Valley '

Thanks

So I may have aged a little recently and received this as a birthday present from MrsDaver6. Opened it tonight for a little try. Wow! Amazing stuff. Such incredibly complexity and length. I could sit here and nose it all night long. You only need the tiniest of sips for a huge party in your mouth.
