Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Great to see Penegal, Buzzard and Ruby last night for a very impromptu and hastily organised night out in Sydney. We thought we would treat our two deserved SA guests to some SA royalty, but from a region outside their familiar and beloved, Barossa:

Both Coonawarra Cabs were exceptional. But the real standout was the Petaluma. It was sublime on every level.

Thanks to the very generous Penegal for the lovely feast we had.

whining&dining, very nice photos! :)

I am a personal belieiver that the whole experience is so much more than the specific drop. Just that photo shows a dedication, a seriousness, that makes the whole thing better.
Sorry to be slow to accept your kind words but have only just scrolled through the thread and seen them, I think it's probably a consequence of the intro of the "new look forum" which I must say has quietened down my in-box considerably! I am an artist so the visual aspect of wine and food is certainly important-you eat with your eyes and I guess, drink with them as well, a fine label and weighty bottle add quite bit to the experience although taste is the ultimate decider, And, for what it's worth, I am quite possibly one of the few members on the forum who would agree with you regarding the introduction of stelvin caps, they might well offer more certainty for cellaring prospects but have almost zero panache at the dining table :).

Outstanding.. I am so impressed and absolutely love this.

It is so smooth and fruity.
FWIW James Dominguez secret wine #105 today is the 2009 Elderton Command a wine that I love just as much as you!

Thanks W&D - I had guessed the Command and logged on to see if anyone could confirm it. I'm in for a case!

My first ever post on this forum I believe
Some of you are familiar names from Vivino or other forums!

Lovey night, Chateau Rieussec 2002, Moss Wood 2002, Brezza Barolo 2009, Clarendon Hills 2005 and Grant Burge Meshach 2001

The Rieussec floored me, simply breathtaking when served with stinky salty cheese. I've ordered another one and a Suduiraut 2005 to compare with.

Very interesting experimental type wine for la Rioja. Chardonnay and Viura. Not sure it works but interesting taste.

Welcome aboard DZ, lovely line-up of wines, I have very fond memories of a Suduiraut from years gone by, possibly the most evocative and fragrant white I've ever imbibed :)
